JerkySnob Subscription Box Review - February 2015 Lawless

Lawless Jerky in Honey Chipotle- 2 oz., value $6.99

Lawless Jerky in Aloha Teriyaki- 2 oz, value $6.99

Lawless Jerky offers “world-inspired” flavors that are “powerful and unique.” I was definitely intrigued by both of these flavors and excited to try them. The Honey Chipotle was a delicious balance of sweet and spicy. It’s flavored with paprika, honey, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. The Aloha Teriyaki was less spicy but had a nice tangy saltiness from the blend of brown sugar, ginger, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. Lawless uses 100% grass-fed beef and dry ages their jerky to preserve tenderness. It definitely makes a difference- this was some moist and tender jerky! Both flavors are also all-natural and gluten free.

JerkySnob Subscription Box Review - February 2015 Mikeys

Mikey’s Jerky in Great Barrier Beef- 2.25oz, value $8.99

Mikey’s Jerky in Mikey’s Original- 2.25 oz, value $8.99

Mikey’s Jerky is made using grass-fed beef that contains no hormones and no antibiotics. Unlike the tender jerky from Lawless, Mikey’s was drier and almost crunchy. I’m not used to this style of jerky, but I enjoyed it (though it required a bit more chewing). The Great Barrier Beef is flavored with garlic powder, crushed red pepper, soy, Worcestershire, and Caribbean jerk sauce. This jerky gets 3/7 on the spicy scale, but I would say it’s definitely more medium than mild (the heat from the crushed red pepper really builds). Of all the flavors I received, the Mikey’s Original tastes most like a classic beef jerky.

Verdict: The jerky included in this shipment adds up to $31.96, which is good for the $27 cost of the box. I enjoyed all of the jerky, but especially liked trying the unusual flavor combinations by Lawless. All of the jerky included in this box was beef, so I wonder if JerkySnob will include other types of jerky in the future. It would be interesting to see other types of meat included, I think, like pork or turkey.

What do you think of JerkySnob?

I saw this on the 14th and decided to order a one month gift as a last minute Valentine’s gift. I assumed we’d get the March pkg (“Use code FEB2015 for 20% off your March shipment”) but the above Feb. pkg. arrived already last Wednesday, the 18th! Ships from Indiana. The hubby is happy with it.
