GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Box

GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe-size or full size, and the value is usually really good too. The only issue with this box seems to be the late shipping – I would recommend just keeping that in mind and setting your expectations accordingly if you sign up for this box.

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Rituals

RITUALS Yogi Flow Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil Foaming Shower Gel FULL SIZE! Value $15

I tried this out in the shower, and I like the scent. It’s a little on the perfume-y side, but it is pleasant, and the formula is interesting too. (It comes out as a gel, and then turns into a foam).

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Julep

Unwash bio-cleansing conditioner (2.5 oz) Value $6.67

Julep Nail Color in Hartleigh FULL SIZE! Value $14

This Unwash conditioner is meant to replace your shampoo and conditioner. I don’t usually have much luck with these type of no-sudsing shampoo/conditioner replacements, but I like that this one is paraben and sulfate free, so I’m going to try it. (If you’ve tried it and recommend it – let us know!)

This Hartleigh polish will be a duplicate for me when my Julep February box arrives, but it’s such a fun Valentine’s Day polish that I look forward to gifting one of them!

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Mascara

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara – FULL SIZE! Value $22

Royal Apothic Tinties Lip Butter in Pink – FULL SIZE! Value $14

The Jelly Pong Pong mascara formula isn’t my favorite – it adds length and some curl, but not as much as some of my favorite mascaras.

This lip tinties packaging is adorable:

GlossyBox Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Lippie

I like the formula of the product too. It’s like a cross between a lip balm and gloss, with no stickiness. And it provides a nice amount of sheer color.

Verdict: This box has a value of a little over $70 – great for the $21 a month cost. I’m impressed with the curation this month – it is a good combination of makeup, hair care and body care items. And the presentation this month is even more fabulous than usual!

What do you think of the February 2015 GlossyBox?

  1. I finally got my box yesterday and lucked out, relatively speaking. I got the little soap instead of the mascara, but got everything else. The one thing I really wanted was the adorable little Tinties, so I’m pretty happy, all things considered.

  2. The booby prize box with the broken blush comes to 45.37. Far under the minimum advertised value of $60 And way further less than the box the bloggers and most others got. worth $72. We are looking at nearly half the value!

The Juice Beauty is a .5 sample size. It sells for $45 for 2 oz on their website. So the value of this was $11.25 The possibly broken and fingerprinted Kryolan blush was also a sample size and sells for $25 for three and weights 7.5g.. So this 2.5 g sample was worth $8.7. The full sized nail polish actually sells for $3.75 on the first site I checked,

So, the bloggers and everyone on their good list got 3 items worth $50 plus the Rituals and Hair stuff.

Those on their booby prize list got 3 items worth $23 worth plus the rituals and hair stuff.

The Booby prize list folks got 2 less full sized items. How can this possibly be fair?

    • I got the booby prize box and I am VERY disappointed. I hope next month they step it up or I am going to unsubscribe next month. I would rather have nicer items than a nice box.

  3. I just got my first Glossybox…and honestly, like many others here, I’m kind of underwhelmed and disappointed.

For one, I was looking forward to the Hartleigh polish, but instead got a generic bright pink shade. I also really wanted the lip butter because lip products are my favorite, but I don’t get anything at all for my lips.

No mascara for me, either. I got a pretty cute but damaged blush (has a chip in it) and a Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer from Juice Beauty, which is pretty useless to me because I’m not really that into skincare.

I did get the same shower gel as Liz but again, that’s not something I’m really into. Last, the Unwash is interesting and I’ll try it, but the same type of thing hasn’t worked well for me in the past and I already have a really good sulfate-free shampoo and deep conditioner that I’m loving right now.

Here’s hoping next month’s box is better.

  4. I finally just got my glossybox today. So glad it had all the items, and they did not substitute any of the items. Shower gel does not smell as good as I thought it would. Reminds me of a shaving cream. That’s okay, I’ll still use it. The lip butter is wonderful. The wait was worth it for me. I’m glad I resubbed again.

    • I didn’t have the nozzle on the shower gel pointing the right way. I guess now I have a nice clean spot on my shower curtain liner.

      • Thank you for telling me about the nozzle needing to point in the right direction. I used this once sorta reminds me of mrbubble shower foam. Kinda fun to use.

  5. I emailed Glossybox about my concerns regarding my box: specifically, the great disparity in value and that disparity not appearing to be based on profile as claimed. Here is a very unsatisfactory (and seemingly contradictory) excerpt from their response:

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that each customer will receive a specific box version of their choice as they are sent out randomly. For instance, one month you could be sent a box version 2 and the other month you could be sent a version 7. The beauty profile is taken in to account mostly for market research purposes and we reference from them to source latest and trendy beauty products.

They did not address my concerns about the value at all. Note that for all their claims about the different boxes pertaining to profile, this is not the case. Profile is only used for research/sourcing and the boxes are sent out randomly.

I don’t think so! If that were true, some of the bloggers would get the poorly valued boxes also and that is never the case!

  6. Let’s hope they’re not going birchbox on us…where there’s not much uniform at all…..I don’t mind 1/2 variations but not 7-8 c’mon….makes spoilers pointless ….but I still <3 my glossybox

  7. Got my first Glossybox today and was not happy to get the cheap soap instead of the mascara. The reason I finally signed up was the 3 month code deal and the spoilers posted on this site. I have been holding off on buying a new mascara because I thought this one was on the way. Not a good start to this sub for me.

    • GlossyBox has just put up a post on their FB page about the beautiful pictures of boxes that people posted. I suggest you go there and post a question asking why the disparity in value seems fair to them and why we got a box that does not meet the promised value on their website.

If no one complains or asks the question, why wouldn’t they think no one minds the disparity in value?

  8. My box arrived today. I got the replacement soap. This soap sells for $12 for 5.5 oz. on Amazon. Doing the math, that comes to a value of $3.72 for this 1.5 bar rather than the $5 purported by Glossybox. While I am not devastated to receive a soap vs. mascara, I am peeved that I received a $3.72 item vs. a $22 item.

I do feel they have purposely sent out a higher value in earlier boxes (to include bloggers) than those receiving later in the month. This is not fair to the rest of us who have no control as to what time of the month we are shipped our boxes. Prior to the January, I do not recall GlossyBox having different boxes. Am I mistaken?

  9. I received the “classic” box on Valentine’s Day last weekend and complained about it so they said they’d send me the shower gel, lip butter and nail polish out since I didn’t get those items. But I did get the shower gel, anyway I got the replacement products today, so super fast shipping. I got the conditioner, lip butter and nail polish. Sad I still don’t get the mascara, but I’ll live lol. I hope next month they go back to the same box for everyone.

    • What is the classic box?

      • It had the Juice Beauty moisturizer from an old Glossybox and the blush from the october or november box, and a nail polish that was hot pink.

        • Yep, that is exactly what came in my box. Two items I’d received before and one that was CLEARLY already used. So gross.

          • Ewwww, a used product? What did they say about that when you contacted them?

          • They just said that they would send me a replacement item. The used item was a blush. It was unsealed and there were fingerprints on the blush. The label on the bottom was also all beat up and unreadable. It almost looks like it was used as a store tester. So gross.

  10. I received the little soap substitution, though everything else was the same. I was disappointed in the lower value of the item, but I feel hard-pressed to complain seeing as last month they accidentally shipped me three boxes and told me to keep them all. I loved last month’s box and wasn’t too crazy about this month’s box anyway, so this isn’t really a big deal to me. I’m pretty picky with mascaras, too, and don’t like exfoliates, so this probably was the best option for me. I totally understand the perspective of everyone who is angry about the substitution, but this one’s not that big of a deal for me.

  11. Hello Ladies,
So I got my box yesterday and was disappointed as many of you were with receiving the alternate box with the blush, beauty juice and plain pink polish. I emailed on the website, twitter and facebook without response so I emailed and they finally got back to me. I figured since many of you were wondering what was going on that I would share the response email that I received today.

“We have several versions of the GLOSSYBOX each month. They are mixed variations of the current month’s items, which are displayed via spoilers and eventually on the website. For example, if we have 8 items displayed for the month, each box will contain 5 of those items, not all 8, so everyone may receive a different variation.

If we run out of inventory, those who sign up later in the month (whether they are new customers or previous ones who resubscribed), will receive a version of the Classic Box for that month, which contains some current month items mixed with top rated previous items. This is stated in our terms and conditions, as well as in the FAQs. Unfortunately, this may affect those who cancel and then resubscribe, as they will be considered new subscribers in the system, sometimes resulting in receiving a repeat item. I hope this clarifies a little more!

Since you are an active subscriber, you should not have received one of the Classic versions. As a courtesy, we will ship you the three items listed in your request. Hopefully, this will help with the inconvenience of the mix-up.”

Anyways so luckily I have been an active subscriber so they will be sending out the as advertised products.
Good Luck Everyone with your customer service inquiries.

    • Thank you for sharing your email. Interesting that they tell other subscribers on facebook that the “classic” products were sent to them because of what’s in their “beauty profile,” which now, based on your email response from them, clearly isn’t true. BTW, I can’t figure out how to fill out my “beauty profile.” I keep getting a blank page and I’ve tried on 2 different computers with 2 different browsers. Anyone else?

      • My email today to GlossyBox received a reply which emphatically stated that all boxes were sent randomly. Clearly, that negates any correlation to profile. Further, it stated that profiles are only used as a tool for them in sourcing items, not sending items to appropriate customers.

    • I find it very funny how they’ve never had different versions before and now all of a sudden too. I resubscribed in January and got the January box, not the other “classic” version. But this month I got the ‘classic box’ with past stuff.

    • They were really good to me as well when there was one mess up but I have been with them for close to a year….i have a friend who is a new sub and didn’t get what i did. I have never had an issue with them that was not rectified.

    • I got the same box (juice beauty, Kryolan blush, hot pink polish) also as an “active subscriber” who has never cancelled and re-subscribed. Congratulations on getting three replacement products – I don’t know how you did it. I emailed them as well. They outright denied that I was sent a “classic” version (they said it was one of the February variations), and only offered to send ONE replacement item (which remains a mystery) in exchange for the Juice Beauty which I had received in November’s box. And even then they made a big production over how this replacement was an “exception” to their “policy” and that they “rarely” send out replacement items and were only conceding to do so in this case because it was a repeat item.

So yeah. Looks like they come up with a different story and “policy” for each customer service inquiry.

  12. I just looked and realized I signed up for a 6 month subscription 🙁 Still have 4 more boxes to go. I’ve never heard of all the variations until last month there were two, then this month someone said there were 7, I got one of the crappy variations, though thankfully not the soap. But I emailed them and they said they’d send out the advertised items. But you can bet if I continue getting back up boxes, they’ll be hearing from me monthly. I can’t believe they’re going to start doing variations of the boxes, I like GB because the boxes are the same!

  13. I thought this was one of the best-ever Glossyboxes! I got the cleanser/exfoliator instead of the mascara, but the rest was the same as Liz’s. I would have been bummed to get the little soap instead.

    • Actually, now that I read the Illinois law more carefully, its a “ban on the sale of.” Im wondering if a GB is breaking the law if they are sending this cleanser to purchasers in Illionois (and whatever other states have passed something similar).

  14. I subbed, canceled due to very long shipping times, subbed again because I liked the shower gel, yet will unsub again because I STILL have not gotten my box. Seemed have shipped 3 weeks after every one else got their box. I’m supposed to get it in the next few days.

  15. as it does mention on their website that there are variations is this something that has recently changed? I must say that I never look at the fine print………LOL I got my GlobeIn box today and I’m thinking grrrr what kind of tagine is that…………only to go back and look and see that it clearly states a mini tagine made for holding spices.
I’m only on my 3rd Glossy Box and I’ve loved it so far. I’m not actually sure if it is the same as the one Liz got— I have to check into that
IF they did just recently change the variety of boxes that should have been conveyed to all subscribers ASAP

  16. Glossybox must have changed their policies because in their FAQ they now have this under “General”:

“Once we receive payment, an order reservation for your box is put in with the warehouse. We have several variations of GLOSSYBOX each month. The version chosen is based on location, preferences and possible GWP options.”

There isn’t any place to put preferences for my account, so what the heck? Plus, when did they decide they were going to have different “versions” and why didn’t they let subscribers know?

    • I un-subbed from Glossybox a few months ago. Earlier today I got an email offering me 20% off of the February box if I re-subscribed. In the email it said I would receive one of three variations and that I was guaranteed either the royal apothic lip tint, the julep polish or another polish that I don’t recognize. This all seems like a very bad move for Glossybox. It’s stuff like this that makes me wonder if subscription boxes in are really interested in long term customers. It seems like they may think its more profitable to continually chase new business.

    • Just realized that even their regular non cached page reflects the Nov 2014 changes. (Sorry I worked late and just got home.) They were in the wrong to not notify anyone.

      • Poor business practice to not notify subs of potential impact to box contents. Not a true “bait and switch” I have a couple of subs that say there might be variation and then have received boxes that bare no resemblance to what they advertise. It’s why I don’t sub to Oui Please—too many variations and considerable fluctuation in value of the box

  17. I got Scalisi Skincare Cleanser and Exfoliator (3.4 oz) instead of the mascara. I’m cool with that. I have so many mascaras, I could open a new one every month for THREE YEARS. Literally. Everything else was the same. I’m glad I got the Julep polish because I really wanted that for some reason.

  18. My box (one) is at my do’. According to tracking, anyway. I’m not home yet though; so I don’t know which one it is. (#1 or #2) But even if I get the same box, but then get a tiny-wee-little-bitty soap that looks more appropriate in say, a dollhouse?!?… I’m still not going to be happy. *Simply* because I have always liked that GB has had the same general box for everyone. No one gets insane value fluctuations. No “Blogger Boxes”. (Alleged or not) So if everyone had gotten a dollhouse soap that was useless in value, (Like in SS–the Erno Laszlo Black Sea mud soap bar. Literally domino-sized.) I would be okay with that. But there’s no reason for there to suddenly be a crapshoot of why some people get the advertised box. & especially why some get 25$ products and some get five dollar ones?? This is just adding further fuel and fanning my frustration fire. I’m likely to throw my box across the room if I get the B^^B. Hopefully they don’t want the contents back undamaged!! 😀 Will update when I get home tonight 🙂 Until then I will have to wait&see… Dun Dun Dun.

  19. I just received my box, I also got the tiny soap (worth $5.00) instead of the mascara, what a bummer! Honestly, this is the main reason why I cancelled the Oui please box. This must be something new they are trying now as this is the first time my box didn’t match ones I saw on this blog.

    • I got the smelly awful soap too! I did take them to task on facebook and followed up with an email. I think the more of us that post respectfully but forcefully, I think the less likely they are to pull this stunt again.

      • @Jerilynn: That’s a good thing to point out. The more people publicly say it (Facebook/social media) but not in a hateful way; so they have no reason to have cause to delete anyone’s comments & there’s no reason to be hateful anyway… The more they’ll realize that this isn’t gonna fly whatsoever. I honestly think they snuck the 5$soap in as a major price variation. And the Scalisi cleanser in as a minor swap with the mascara. And the B^^B in as a whole other “Version” of a box. Hoping that since there was more than one thing changing going on, people wouldn’t take notice. That’s three versions already right there, and they’ve saved themselves tons of money. And they’re gonna try and tout it as “variety”. That’s one of the only main reasons GB has been my longest sub. Is because of the steady only-slight-but-subtle-non-variation aspect. Even if you’re not one of those people to send emails. Or** even if you’ve sent an email, and they claim they can’t help. Post a comment on their Facebook. You’ve for nothing to lose. People tend to take more notice when it effects them publicly.

  20. I got the same box but instead of Mascara or face wash, I got the $5 tiny teadora soap bar. The value is definitely not the same.

  21. Oh rest assure, I’ve been with GB from the beginning of GlossyBox. Never complained unless there’s been a huge problem (ie: whole product leaked). If there’s something minor such as a low cost/size item missing I didn’t really *HaveToHave*, a small salvageable leak, cracked but not broken, useable but melted|goopy|weather-effected, I don’t bother contacting them. (Once maybe twice correspondence the entire time?) Really they do an awesome job (usually) and I always am pleased with the monetary value. And even if it’s not a value for me personally, that’s usually a preferential thing. So if they pull that s#%^, and try to send me that “Back Up Box”… I will raise some … Yeah. No. It isn’t going to happen. I think it’s preposterous for them to sub in products that 1), are repeats from past box(es). And 2), to bold-faced lie about it to cover their ass. GB has never had seven variations. They come with an information card for asdfgjcfrh’s sake! I know they come with slight variations such as different: colors, scents, types for hair:thick/thin textures, skin: oily/dry, and (cream or powder). But this is just… Past ridiculous. The items they subbed aren’t even comparable in size, value, or type!! The Scalisi Cleanser is a respectable swap for the mascara both in aspects of full sized & monetary comparison. (& preferred in my opinion. Only because I have approximately ten million mascaras.) I’m a pretty easy going person, but blatant lies to your subscribers to placate a situation; and disregard for quality are two things that get to me In. A. Hurry. Somehow I have two subscriptions so it’ll be interesting. I wonder if both or neither will be the “BackUpBox”. I got my shipping notification for one on Feb12. EstDelDate is the 18th and that’s tomorrow. Seeing as tracking info hasn’t been updated since the 13th, that’s probably correct given the location then. I never have expectations for delivery times from GB. (Same now unfortunately with Julep.) I’ve learned that over time. If I get it the same month the box is for, that’s usually a win in my book. I will update what I get in my two boxes; if anyone would like to know 🙂

    • Inquiring minds want to know. Would love to know if either/both of your boxes are different. Waiting for mine too, and won’t be happy at all if they do the bait and switch.

      • Got mine according to Tracking, Shana 🙂 I’ll have to update when I get home! Will deff let you know though. Hope your box isn’t the B^^B. I even have a nickname for it now lol.

        • Thankfully I got the original box. I would not have been happy. I really like that nail polish and can actually use the mascara – I have an allergy to a fairly common preservative which makes most mascara unusable for me. So I am always happy to have another one to try. The lip tin is so cute.

    • lol I love your response! I hope you let us know what boxes you get, I’m almost hoping for you get the back up box just so you can go off on Glossybox.

      • Haha Sara I’m hoping I don’t because they’d probably be like: ” O,O this woman is just banned. That’s it, She’s crazy. This address is barred from GBox forever.” I’d probably write them like, half of a Harry Potter book to explain why I’m displeased. And what I expect as far as them remedying/fixing/replacing/making-up-for this situation. Because in my opinion, It’s gone past just breaking even. Almost to where just sending the “right box” isn’t enough to make up for their shady tactics, lying to placate customers, and really what I consider fraud. Blatantly sending out low value boxes for something that you’re not meant to get. For a sub box: that’s the exact opposite of what you pay for. That’s taking your money and not giving it back in value, which is the whole point. Especially when GB is one of the leading high-value-for-low-cost sub boxes. If this is their new “business tactics”, I will be canceling in a hurry. Which is a shame, because I was lucky enough to lock in the 16.43$ rate for life deal. Speaking of writing half a Harry Potter book^^ heh. Sorry, I seem to be incapable of writing less than two pages!

    • So what did you get in your two boxes, or did I miss it?

  22. So I emailed customer service to ask why they sent me three different items and they told me that they have seven box variations they sent out. What? I’ve not been aware of this before and I’ve definitely not seen seven different boxes on social media. The rep said he was sorry about MY confusion.

    • First question…. Did you get a card with the original box contents?

Secondly, I would expect this to be remedied. And if not, I would take this to the FTC. I would consider this a classic bait and switch. Aka, deceptive advertising practices via blogs. They purposely sent out the, “good” boxes to bloggers to get people to purchase this and then sent out something else. They lure you in with a zinger and give you something of lower value. Not just unethical, but criminal.

I would advise taking lots of pictures and saving all correspondence.

    • Whaaat?? I’ve never heard of variations of a Glossybox nor seen them. I haven’t heard of 7 variations of this box either, I got one of the other versions though. It only had about a $58 dollar value and didn’t get the mascara, lip butter or Hartleigh nail polish. Instead I got a blush we’ve received in a past box, Juice Beauty moisturizer and a hot pink nail polish. I messaged them immediately on FB and they’re sending out the Julep nail polish and lip butter.

  23. I must be getting too many boxes now! I was debating about getting this box and then I got a shipping notice. Went back through my records and I purchased a three month sub starting in December. So this is the last month. I also checked my account and see that I have enough points to get a free box. Can I lapse my subscription and then use that for the next good box that comes along? Or must I be an active member to get that free box? If so, I hope a good code comes along for another three month sub (which would make four months with my free box).

Have never had enough points in any sub to get a free box so unsure how that works!

    • You have to ask them not to automatically sign you up when your subscription runs out. THEN you can use your points for a free box, and THEN you can re-subscribe (if you want to).

  24. I got the same as Liz. I didn’t know there were multiple versions… the other boxes have the card describing each product?

    • I received the same box as Liz and Kim, I’m glad I got this one and not other versions.

  25. I didn’t get three of the products shown here! Didn’t get the Royal Apothic lippie, the Hartleigh Polish, or the mascara. Instead I got a hot pink polish, a small tube of juice beauty moisturizer, and some Glossybox brand blush. So disappointed. This was my favorite sub box 🙁

    • Bridget that is the box I got too! So bummed!

    • I got the same box, I don’t like the three substitutes, plus it only comes out to about a $58 dollar value, compared to over $70. It’s the same blush we’ve received before, not a fan of the nail polish and already have a few juice beauty moisturizers.

    • Crap – I haven’t gotten my box yet, and I have a feeling I’m going to be getting the backup box like you guys. I really wanted that Royal Apothic lippie. Grmph.

    • I contacted Glossybox on Facebook and told them I was very disappointed. They responded fairly promptly to my message and said “We will send out the Rituals Yogi Flow, Julep Nail Polish and the Royal Apothic Lip Butter separately as soon as we can.” I was most excited about the lip butter, still don’t get the mascara, but oh well. I can’t believe if they still have the nail polish and lip butter left, why not put it in every box? I thought Glossybox always sent out the same box to everyone, didn’t know there were different boxes until last month.

    • I got exactly what Bridget got. Just got my box today. Going to cancel after my prepaid 6 months is up. This is crazy and a rip off!

    • I got the same box :/ I wasn’t too bummed about it until I started reading the many blog posts that have this awesome box. I emailed customer service letting them know how disappointed I am with their misleading tactics, requesting some sort of compensation. Instead, I received a rational justification. Maybe March is our month 🙂

    • My stupid box hasn’t even shipped yet. And I know I’m going to hate it when it comes. Grmph.

  26. Love love LOVE my box, I just opened it as my husband gave me a 3 month sub for Valentine’s day! Mine is exactly like Liz’s and I love the decorative box! The inside is an adorable print. The only difference in mine is instead of the mascara I got the Scalisi cleanser and exfoliator full size! ($25) I love it!! I already tried it out this morning and I love my skin. My favorite has to be the adorable lip tinties thing!! The color is so flattering! And it is so smoothing and doesn’t make me feel like I have to rub my lips together all day like most lip balms/glosses do. Oh I am in love with this box! Thank you so much for your review because that is what made me tell my husband about it! At only $16.67 for this box it was a GREAT deal!

  27. I am beyond mad!! I was SO looking forward to the advertised box and I get crap I don’t want or already have. I got the same blush I got a few months ago, Juice Beauty moisturizer sample, a weird nail polish, the conditioner and something else. I’m just so mad, I wanted the box that was advertised!!

  28. I am super happy I received my box today so I can use the nail polish, but I was super surprised to find I got a scalisi cleanser / exfoliate instead of the jelly pong pong mascara. It has a value of $25 so I am not upset, it was just surprising.

    • I got the scalisi cleanser also. I’m super happy because I don’t wear mascara. I’m thrilled with my box this month.

  29. At lease you got your box all I got from glossy box was a bottle of perfume.

  30. This is why I love and will not leave Glossybox! I’ve been with them for close to 1 year and always love the box. Last month’s was not a favorite but that is only b/c I’m not crazy for toner. I never expect to love everything as these are “surprises” but Glossybox is a good value for the money *always*. It offers high end, many of them as full size. Love them and boxycharm. This box was so cute..I’m not usually into the sparkle topcoat but this one is so cute & pretty that I’m excited to try it over another polish. My only complaint would be the “off” shipping…but I got this box early! (surprise!) and I think I get a lot of UK items LOL! I guess they originated from the UK..makes me wonder if the UK boxes have more US items. This is such a fun & “good for the money” box if one is into boxes with makeup + skin + hair items. It has a bit of everything

  31. Did anyone else get an alternative Feb box? I did not get the same Feb box as Liz? I am bummed. I always thought they sent the same box to everyone?

    • Oh no, had no idea they did not send the same box to everyone one, I know sometimes the colors are different and there can be different scents. My box is late like usual and should be here Monday. I just hope it has the organic shower gel which is the only reason why I subscribed again after 6 months.

  32. Yippee hooray!! My Glossybox came on the 12th. I will be ready for Valentine’s Day. Thank you Glossybox.

  33. I love everything glossy box
Great products and it’s not expensive
I know I’m in the minority but I don’t really care exactly when any of my boxes shoe up
I love the surprise of what shows up Of course if I was waiting for a gift or 7 weeks for try the world that would be a different story
I stayed away from the spoilers so I loved opening it just now

  34. I got Scalisi Skincare Cleanser and Exfoliator – full size RV $24 – instead of the mascara. So happy I re-subbed after seeing this review 🙂

  35. Yah! I for mine today. I didn’t get the mascara though I got a face wash/exfoliate that has a value of 36 dollars.

    • I got the face wash too! I looked around online and it has some really good reviews. I am happier with this than I would’ve been with the mascara I think

  36. I haven’t got any notification of the shipping yet. I definitely won’t get it before 2/14. Then the nail polish is useless……

  37. I just signed up with the $10 off. Does anyone know if I will receive this months box? I couldnt find a cutoff date on their web-site. I hate how vague beauty box sites are!

  38. I already received shipping notification from Glossy, as I am a current subscriber, and my estimated delivery date is between Feb 12th and 17th. I may not even get the box before Valentine’s day, as an existing subscriber. It’s a great box, but they really do need to get their crap together shipping wise.

  39. Do you know if these will these also appear in the British GlossyBox?

  40. I have rolled my eyes at some boxes that have come out, but to each their own. I live an hour from any decent store to buy what I like for beauty products. Between gas and shipping $20 a month for a Glossybox pays for it self to do a little shopping for me. Economically this makes sense . I will admit I am feeling like birchbox has become something I consider throw in a box and forget stuff. I do think I should cancel and just forget, so I see some points. The points more than make up for it however.

    • She interviewed me for it presenting it as a completely different article – I was told it was about the growing industry, which would make sense for a Bloomberg article.

I find it frustrating that none of the points I discussed with her about why subscription boxes are popular, what value they bring, etc. were mentioned in the article. If subscription boxes were just purely waste and for suckers as she seems to suggest, the industry wouldn’t be thriving.

When Caroline interviewed me, I asked her which boxes she subscribed to, and she said she had never tried a subscription box. It seems a little crazy to me that someone who never has subscribed to a single box can take such a negative and harsh stance about it. I really don’t understand it!

Anyway – rant over! (I was pretty upset when I first saw this article – I hope I’m not being too harsh myself!)

      • I don’t think you’re being too harsh. I left a pretty lengthy comment on her article challenging a lot of what she’d said. I was curious if she’d interviewed you because the quotes really seemed taken out of context (which it seems, they were.) In any case, it doesn’t seem like she got many views her article. I was only the seventh person to comment in two months. I just came across this because I had googled “subscription boxes” and “economics”. Weird article for Bloomberg though.

      • You are not being harsh at all. It was unethical on her part to mislead you like that. She clearly has no idea how fantastic they cab be, and the savings involved.. Which leads me to believe she is anything but a beauty/product aficionado.

        • Did she tell you it was going to be a rant? Above the title of her article it’s classified as a Rant, one would assume she was at a least transparent with the intent of her article. Her rant is rather pointless though, she’s basically upset that there is increasing compeition and diversification in the subscription box marketplace and that there is demand for these things. Then she might as well rant about how she dislikes lipstick and nail polish because there are just too many manufactures and colors on the market. She obviously doesn’t understand economics and I find it bizarre to rant about an industry that you don’t even participate in.

          • No she did not let me know it was going to be a rant or an opinion piece of any kind 🙁

      • Thank you Liz for what you are doing with this site. It has definitely helped me make some more informed choices. I was in the past duped by those great blogger boxes and signed up only to receive some junky cheaper version of the box. What a let down. Thank you again for taking the time to do this. ☺️

  41. Hi Liz

Just got my first glossy box. However the box is not the February box. Does glossy box send out an intro box for new members?

    • No they don’t send out an intro box from what I know, you may have received the January box late. I usually get my box closer to the end of each month also.

  42. Oh I want that Julep polish so bad!
    Is this box still available?

    • Yep! 🙂

      • Thank you c:
Sorry to be a pain, but do you know how soon I would get this box if I signed up for it?
I’d wear that nail polish a lot, but I would love to have it for Valentine’s!

        • I’m not sure – GlossyBox is not known for their shipping times 🙁

So, I wouldn’t count on it. Sorry!

        • I tried to sign up and it would not take the coupon, which was a drag. It also said my first box would be delivered between Feb 18 – March 2nd. I don’t need heart nail polish after the 14th… I haven’t been a subscriber for more than a few hours, and I am already not feeling the love. If I call customer service, and inform them about the non-acceptance coupon, do you think they will credit me the 10 dollar difference?

          • I’d contact them with a private message through Facebook. They’ve always gotten back to me immediately that way and the customer service was excellent.

          • I had the same issue and I was told to place the order and pay the $60 and would be refunded the $10 after. I was a little hesitant but I did it and received the $10 credit within hours of the original order.

        • Probably towards end of month unfortuneately ! That’s how it always is!

  43. I get to try it for 3 months because hubby just got me a sub for Valentine’s day! Got the $10 off so 3 months for $50. I’m excited!

  44. Liz- How is this mascara you like when you take it off at night? Is it anything like Benefit Their Real? Which I find almost waterproof

    • I just tried it for the first time this morning, so I don’t know yet! 🙂 I’ll update when I take it off.

  45. This box looks fantastic, I can’t wait to get it! I love how early you get your Glossybox, mine doesn’t come until the very end of the month. I can’t wait for the shower gel and Un-wash conditioner. I already got my Julep box this month and swapped the nail polish, not a fan of heart stuff.

  46. Looks good. I just wish they would get their shipping problems figured out. I have paid for Dec, Jan & Feb and rec’d nothing so far. Not good, but since there are so few boxes in Canada I’m still going to keep subscribing a bit longer with hopes it improves.

    • I subscribed back in November. Was to receive Nov, Dec, Jan, and I ordered the holiday box separately. Nov never arrived, so I sent them a message – Just a few days later a big box came via UPS containing the Nov and an additional holiday box! Suffice it to say that more than made up for the mishap and left me feeling really appreciated 🙂

  47. I can’t wait to get this box in my hot little hands! I LOVE IT!

  48. What is your favorite mascara, that’s also affordable? I’m looking more for length >.<

    • It varies, but right now this is my current favorite:

It’s $24, but gives me incredible length and volume, and it is Paraben-free, Fragrance-free, Phthalate-free and Sulfate-free.

If you’re looking for something under $10, the drugstore mascara I’ve been most impressed with is L’Oreal Voluminous Butteryfly Intenza. Hope that helps!

      • Thank you so much!!! Helps LOADS!

      • Liz, I got that in my Target Box. And whenever people ask me what mascara I recommend, I always start out with “Well, that does depend on whether you want higher end or drug-store. Both of which have hidden gems.” Most say drugstore, and I recommend this mascara almost always for that dept!! The *Only* frustrating thing is that it’s not waterproof at all. I had a case of uncontrollable eye-watering once from allergies. And boom, raccoon-in-a-sprinkler-look instantly. I still love Target BBoxes though.

      • Eesh! I’ll keep that in mind, thank you!

      • Ooh thanks Megan A., Good to know! Yeah, had the same problem with it too. But most people say L’Oreal is the best go-to for drugstore mascara finds. I’ll look into the original formula. Sometimes they do get it right the first time 🙂

        • I thought I would add for anyone interested that L’oreal is owned by the same company that also owns Lancôme, Urban Decay, Yves saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani and may others. They have high quality products that are similar to their Lancôme line in my opinion. For anyone interested here is a link to the L’oreal Group of companies
