Candy Club Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Frogs

Albanese Rainforest Frogs

The gummy frogs were sooo good. Most of the flavors are sweet, but the yellow and green frogs are sour. I think it’s such a clever idea to throw in one flavor that’s a little different from the others. I’ve never seen gummy frogs before, so I’m happy to have discovered them through Candy Club. The Albanese brand of candy isn’t new to me, though. I recently picked up some of their 12-flavor gummy bears and really liked them. This is a brand I’ll be keeping an eye out for!

Candy Club Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Cherry

Allan Sour Cherry Slices

As someone who grew up on sour patch kids, I have a soft spot for sour gummy candy. I don’t think I’ve had sour cherry slices before, but I really like them.

Candy Club Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Runts

Wonka Runts

Runts are a classic from my childhood and certainly a welcome sight! I’ve always liked Runts, in part I think because I’ve never seen another banana-flavored candy. I will happily save these for my next trip to the movies. (Or maybe my next several trips- it’s a big container!)

Candy Club Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Honey

Bit-O-Honey

Bit-O-Honey isn’t one of my favorite candies, but it’s certainly a nostalgic one. Actually, I think it was one of my mom’s childhood favorites, so I might send these to her. I do like how many were included and how they were sprinkled all around the inside of the box. (They’re not all pictured here. By my count, Candy Club included 34!)

Candy Club Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Caramel

Suss Vanilla Caramel with Sea Salt BONUS ITEM!-, 2 oz, value $3.50

This Caramel was included in the box as a “special bonus treat.” It’s from a New Hampshire-based confectioner, preservative-free, and made by hand. It’s also delicious. I realize that this isn’t a subscription focused on small, local producers, but I’m still happy to see one included!

Verdict: I really enjoyed this shipment from Candy Club. Opening up a box FULL of candy definitely put a smile on my face and made me feel like a kid again. I thought the packaging was very well designed, and I especially loved the signature plastic and tin containers. On their website, Candy Club mentions that each box will have a $60 retail value. While this seems a little steep, it’s in line with the pricing at Dylan’s Candy Bar. You could certainly get this much candy for less from the supermarket’s bulk bin aisle, but I think the packaging and curation add value. The candy from Candy Club also tasted very fresh, not at all dried out like gummies can sometimes get in bulk bins. I would be delighted to receive this every month (though I’m not sure I could eat all the candy myself!), and I also think this box would make a fantastic gift.

What did you think of this month’s Candy Club?

I like how you weight the worth of the box against the cost/value in all your reviews. Your reviews are enjoyable to read as well!

I never was a fan of Wonka Runts, those frogs gummy remind me of those sharks gummy that I love.

Sneaky Burrito

Kind of tempting (I like fruity candy), but I don’t *need* candy. And a lot of gummies have gelatin so I can’t even eat them. I’ll just stock up on chocolate (again) at the Target after-Easter sale…(by then, maybe I will have worked the 50% off Valentine’s chocolate off).
