Scentbird is a perfume sampling subscription box that sends you 100% authentic perfumes every month. When you sign up, you take a preferences quiz to help them suggest recommendations for you to try, and you can also go browse and rate the rest of their selection to make the recommendations even more accurate. You can build a queue of fragrances you’d like to try or you can let yourself be surprised every month.

Because this subscription is so heavily personalized, the fragrance I selected to review this month is only one of a large number other subscribers may have received.

This is the purse spray case you get with your first month, with the sample vial inside. You can see it closed (top) and open (bottom). I have to say that this is what makes this subscription for me. The case is has a nice weight, is sleek, and feels high quality. It’s easy to open and close, and to switch perfumes you just open the case, pull the vial out, and place the next one inside!

The fragrance I selected this month is Chloe eau de parfum by Chloe. It has notes of pink peony, freesia, lychee, magnolia, lily of the valley, rose, cedarwood, amber, and honey.

I really like this fragrance! It’s definitely very floral but it’s still light and isn’t overpowering. It feels feminine and sophisticated. Perfumes smell different on everybody because of each person’s individual body chemistry, and sometimes I like scents better when sprayed on paper than my skin. Fortunately, I like this one on me! Plus, online reviews rave about how long-lasting this fragrance is.

A .2 oz/6 ml rollerball of this fragrance sells for $25, so this .27 oz/8 ml spray is worth about $33.33. The sample size Scentbird sends is enough for a month of use, with two applications a day.

Verdict: I really enjoy Scentbird. I love that I can trust that the fragrances they send to be authentic and that I can get such a good deal on the amount of fragrance I get! I also feel like this is an excellent option for people who want to explore the world of fragrance even if they’re not very familiar or practiced with identifying notes or knowing how to describe the kinds of perfumes they like. Their website is easy to use and search, has detailed descriptions about each perfume, and provides you with lots of recommendations based on your tastes.

It’s awesome that Scentbird offers designer brands and scents I recognize and want to try, even though it doesn’t seem like they have some super-new releases (however, if you email them requesting a fragrance, they probably already have plans to add it – and they bump it up in priority according to requests for it!). All in all, I’m really happy with this sub.

Hi Haley, I enjoy your reviews of this subscription! Quick questions. When you say two application a day = two pumps total? Are the products we receive are “eau de perfum”, NOT “eau de toilette”, right?
The code BIRD50 still worked, so I ordered my first month last week. I cheated and went to Sephora and picked the scent I would use, lol. Scentbird’s selection sends Sephora to shame! The particular perfume I picked was not even available for rollerball size, so it is worth the cost for me. I don’t think I will ever buy full size as I don’t remember I ever finished one unless I absolutely fall in love with the scent. I like that they don’t include any celebrity endorsed fragrance. The only thing we will miss from this subscription is the beautiful bottles from each maker, but the vial is sleek and good for travelling/purse!

I just received my first scentbird order and I was wondering if it is normal to have to pump the vial several times to get any fragrance. I have tried it many times, but rather than a mist it comes out only as a tiny bit after several pumps. I’m not sure if it is because of the canister or the perfume vial. Any suggestions?

Make sure the vial is in there good and all the way down as it should. I had the same problem my second month when I switched vials. Hope this helps.

I heard that Scentbird also had a scent subscription for men, but I didn’t find a link to it on their site if it exists. If it does, any idea what it is called? I can’t afford to add anything new right away, but am hoping for later in the year and a scent sub with interesting new colognes and aftershaves would be right up my alley.

Their FAQ says “Do you offer men’s fragrances?
Sorry boys! We currently only offer women’s fragrances.” So I am thinking they don’t now. But maybe someone else does something similar? Seems likes good idea.

Hmm. The reason I was thinking that there was a men’s version was that there was a review of a women’s fragrance subscription service on one of the review sites followed by a men’s service and the review stated that it was the men’s version of the women’s service and I had it in my head that the women’s service was Scentbird and that the men’s version was named Scent something or other as well. Perhaps it was another service. In looking around, I heard mention of a site called Scenttrunk that is for men, but I haven’t been able to check it out as of yet as I keep getting called away. Hopefully I will be able to check it out soon and it will be a good service at a good price, and equally important, still in business as the little mention I read was from some time back.

I LOVE scentbird, unfortunately money is tight so I had to cancel them and a few others for awhile. But I highly recommend them! Their product is great, good price, and their customer service is excellent!!!
