Botanical Bars Lip Balm – Value $2.49

This natural soap bar brand is new to me, and no surprise – I’m a fan. Their scents seem to be a lot more subtle than other natural soaps too.

I like the intricate detail of this pendant – it seems like a good match for a breezy maxi dress in the summer!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $34. I think it’s a pretty good value for a mix of hand made items and jewelry, plus I think their values of jewelry are always fair.

What do you think of the January Box of Happies box?

  1. I got one of these in December after reading Liz’s review and I was amazed how quick it came! Especially because I ordered it right before Christmas. It came with recipe cards and a yellow pad of Post-its within cardstock that will be donated. But, I did get silver branch earrings and a bronze little anchor necklace. I don’t think I would get this box again because the value wasn’t there, but I do like the idea of it!

I guess also I was confused if they actually give any money back to the artists who send 105+ items for the boxes. It seems like a lot of investment for a small amount of advertising if they don’t.

    • I will never get this one again! I got a ring that was cracked and turned my finger green, a necklace that turned my neck green and made me break out, earrings that fell apart, 4 recipe cards a a piece of folded cardstock with some post it notes inside. I make jewelry as a hobby and do some paper crafting. I have made these types of products out of better materials for much less. I expected nicer items.

      • Teresa it sounds like we got the same box! It really was very cheap stuff. I think I got more use out of the box it was sent in. I also am going to repurpose the earrings and mast necklace because they’re so plain…

      • While many of those concerns are legitimate, I’d just like to point out that there are a wide variety of metals that can leave green marks on the skin, and that this isn’t a sign of poor quality. Similarly, some people have a reaction to certain metals, and can’t wear them. This also isn’t a sign of quality. It’s your body not working right, not the jewelry being bad.

  2. what a lovely idea! AND you can use the box to put craft supplies in.

  3. This box is not for me. It seems kind of cheap-feeling for $29/mo.

But I’m happy to not be coveting another sub!!! 🙂
