Orange Glad includes an informational card that details every item involved. One thing I also found interesting is that it also tells you how soon they recommend consuming it.

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Popbar

Popbar Milk Hot Chocolate on a Stick – 1.55 oz, value: $2.99

McTavish Shortbread Gingerbread Man – value: $2.50?

I couldn’t find this gingerbread cookie in McTavish Shortbread’s online shop, so I had to guesstimate the value. My family loves shortbread cookies, so this is a win for me.

I’ve seen hot chocolate on a stick everywhere lately, so I’m really excited to try it!

Orange Glad Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Malvi

The Poisoned Apples Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Shortbread Cookie – value: $2

Three Kids Kitchen Original Caramel & Salted Caramel – 2 pieces, value: $2.40 total

Malvi Marshmallow Vanilla Salted Caramel Mallow – 2 mallows, value: $3

These marshmallows were consumed immediately after I was done with photos! They’re marshmallows sandwiched between cookies with caramel. It was really good and I’ve never had anything like it before.

My favorite item in the box was this treat by Poisoned Apples. It’s a shortbread cookie, topped with caramel and topped with salted chocolate!

I’m not a huge fan of solid caramel pieces, so these will be passed along.

Verdict: Overall, I liked the December Orange Glad Sweets Box. I discovered some great new treats I never would have found on my own. As far as value goes, everything comes out to $12.89. I wish they had included a little more for a box that costs $15 + $6.95 shipping, but I know these are smaller businesses that I could never have discovered myself, so I’m not too upset.

What do you think about the December Orange Glad Sweets Box?

I love January box. Much bigger sizes (could even share with family ) and everything yummy 🙂

I just went ahead and ate the chocolate off the stick instead of making hot chocolate and it was good that way! I didn’t like that the gingerbread man cookie had partially hydrogenated oil as an ingredient as I try to avoid that. I need to check my account because I think I did some kind of Black Friday deal on this sub, otherwise I’ll probably cancel due to the low value. I did like the box but the regular price would be too much for me under the circumstances.

I got the 3 month deal on black Friday and I’m kind of glad I was too chicken to go for 6 months. It looks cute, but feels like you get way too little for your money (at full price subscription especially)…

I came close to ordering this box on Black Friday. The problem is that everything would be gone minutes after I open the box 🙁 Food in boxes are my husband and sons favorites.

I picked up the black Friday or cyber Monday deal which was a good deal ~$30 for 3 months. I don’t think I would pay full price for this sub based on this first box in December. I think it is definitely more about the curation from small businesses than value, which is good and bad for a subscription service. They were good treats, but I agree with Lokelani I would probably purchase at a Farmer’s Market etc. instead. Oddly, I don’t care for caramel, but the handmade caramels in the box were so good – soft without being chewy or sticky. My husband loved the marshmallows with the short bread cookie. It will be interesting to see what comes next month!

The sub looks delicious, but a little expensive for what it is. If the value is going to be less than the retail price, i’d rather purchase home made confections from the local farmer’s market, or even whole foods or a local gourmet shop.

Question about one of the items though, Is the hot chocolate on a stick similar to breaking off bits of a good chocolate bar into steaming milk and stirring? that’s how i sometimes make my hot chocolate (or add to hot coffee or espresso for a mocha), and the only “inconvenient” part is steaming the milk, which the hot chocolate on a stick doesn’t alleviate. i thought it would be more interesting than it looks in the link.

Hello,
Yes. The hot chocolate on a stick – is exactly like melting pieces of chocolate in steamed milk. I think it’s more about convenience. I prefer the broken bar method myself…

Thanks for confirming! i like the broken bar method too, especially since there’s lots of great flavored chocolates out there that make delicious hot chocolate

This wasn’t my favorite box, I’m definitely not a big fan of caramel and most things in the box had caramel in them. I ate the marshmallows, they weren’t bad. I loved last month’s box vs this month’s. I am excited to try the hot chocolate on a stick.
