IndulgeMeBox Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Info

This IndulgeMeBox also includes an info card that details the items in the box.

IndulgeMeBox Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Candle

Yankee Candle Gingerbread Votive Candle – value: $1

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream – 1 oz, value: $12

This candle smells so good – I opened it immediately! And it has a burn time of 15-17 hours.

I’ve heard a lot about L’Occitane thanks to subscription boxes, and this is their best-selling hand cream. It has amazing reviews, so I’m looking forward to trying it (based on some other reviews I’ve seen, it looks like some subscribers got different scents).

IndulgeMeBox Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Trend Trunk

Trend Trunk Mystery Gift Card – value: $5 (which is what my code ended up redeeming for)

DIY Gift Pillow Pack Set – value: $1?

Trend Trunk is a “social marketplace” where you can buy, sell, and donate clothes, accessories, and fashion-related items. This card from them contained a code that had a mystery value that could have valued anywhere from $5-$250. Mine only ended up being $5 (which didn’t surprise me), but I see this more as a promotional extra in the box, not as a main item since I don’t feel like it really adds much to the value of the box.

This DIY set has a small sheet of paper and 5 little cardboard pillow packs. IndulgeMeBox is a beauty/lifestyle box, so I was a little thrown to see this. I know some people might feel like a small, simple DIY project constitutes as a fun “me time” thing, so I’m sure some people won’t mind getting this. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people.

IndulgeMeBox Subscription Box Review - December 2014 Scarf

Bizou Knit Scarf - $24.99

This scarf has such a pretty pattern and I’m in love with the colors. It’s big, cozy, thick, and will definitely keep me warm! This is another item that had different patterns for different subscribers.

Verdict: Overall, I’m a little underwhelmed by this month’s IndulgeMeBox. Only three of the five items feel like they add value – I don’t think people who subscribe to this box signed up to get DIY crafts, and I really think the mystery gift card should have been a bonus instead of a main item. That being said, I’m really happy with the scarf and hand cream, and have enjoyed the candle already, so the box is still mostly a win for me. The value comes out to $37.99 (USD) without including any value for the gift card or DIY project so I’m happy with that value.

I also wanted to let our readers know that I have read that the founder of IndulgeMeBox has acknowledged feedback about this box and has stated that no more DIY projects will be included, and promo cards like the one for Trend Trunk in this one will be counted as a bonus item in the future. This is good news to me – it shows that they’re paying attention and looking to keep up changes for the better. This is their second box, so I’m excited to see what they have in store for future boxes.

What do you think about IndulgeMeBox?

This box was awful value. I found those scarves on the company’s website in the clearance section for 99 cents!!!! Anyone could have bought the contents of this box for under $10. It is very clear that this person is not working with companies to show case their products, but buying extremely cheap deals to make a box for lots of profit. I’m very disappointed!

I wish there were a craft/lifestyle box. Sometimes it seems like I get a box of stuff and ten minutes later it’s all put away and that’s that. I love the boxes where there’s something to do, like reading a book or baking. With craft boxes though, sometimes I’m not in the mood to do them right then, or I don’t have time, and I wish there were something in the box that I could use or enjoy right away. Plus a box of supplies never looks impressive and often doesn’t seem worth the money on its own.

I think this box is adorable and really impressive for the price, plus it’s nice to see one with free shipping to Canada. The scarf is the kind of thing I’d expect to see in a $40 box.

No more free shipping in CAN on this box…now its $5 shipping starting with Feb box.

The DIY kit really appealed to me, actually. If I hadn’t read that this kind of thing was to be discontinued I’d have subscribed immediately.
Oh well, I’ll see what future boxes hold and perhaps take the plunge later.
It certainly looks like a very promising box.

This box looks pretty good, considering it’s only about $20! I’m interested in seeing what future boxes hold.

I’m still waiting for mine to arrive.

Very interested to see what Indulge Me sends out in future boxes. Happy they are listening to feedback. We need more like this Here in Canada.

They will be charging for shipping to Canadian customers as well in the New Year.

Well I got my first box…but I’m disappointed. I was under the impression I’d be receiving the December box (wanted the scarf) but got a January box. Apparently signing up mid to late November is not sufficient time to get the next months box.

Already posted 2 of the items from January box up for swap and the rest add up to about $5 short of the cost of the box and i’m not overly excited about them.

I have very dry skin on my hands in the winter. Sometimes my hands even crack during this time (and I live in CA)!

Anyway, I wanted to mention that I am a fan of L’Occitane products and this hand creme in particular so I would have been happy to see this item and the scarf in this box.

This box looks great if just for the scarf alone! I love the colors of it, it looks so cozy. Plus a votive candle and hand lotion are a win with me. I would’ve loved this box.

I don’t know, I wouldn’t want to receive a DIY craft in a beauty/lifestyle box. Even though this looks like it doesn’t really require much effort, not sure I’d want it, at least not after Christmas anyway.

“Indulge Me” has become one of my favorite boxes. There is a lot of heart that has gone into each box. Being new to the subsciption box scene, I applaud it’s continuing evolution and cheer it on! I enjoyed each item in my box. The scarf was a cheerful and cozy style that will add happiness and a pop of color on even the greyest days. Even if an item does not automatically hit the “win” button, I have remained open to the ability to be introduced to something new to me. Keep up the great fun!

Totally disagree with your comments about the DIY items. I think a little craft here and there would be great. I or my kids could do it. I have a million scarves so the variety in the box that is posted kind of rivals popsugar to me (In a cheaper, same giddiness kind of way. And if I have to get a scarf in every subscription box I receive).
