For the Makers DIY Subscription Box Review – Nov 2014 Box

For the Makers is a monthly DIY subscription box centered around jewelry. (There’s usually at least one non-jewelry project too).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Here’s the finished Petal Pusher Necklace! This was definitely a slight pain to make (I couldn’t manage to keep the petals all in a neat row like the tutorial shows as I added them!), but it’s probably my favorite finished project in the box. Plus, I think the finished product turned out really nice despite my struggles. I love that the material used for the petals were silver on one side and gold on the other so I could choose which color I wanted my flowers to be. I chose for my center flower to be all silver, and the smaller flowers as mostly silver with a couple gold petals!

Here’s the wallet, shoe clips, and beaded necklace.

The wallet was probably my least favorite item to make. I tried to carefully follow the printable template, but my wallet came out a little lopsided and it required small holes to be punched into it with a rotary punch (or scissors, in my case, since I don’t own one). Scissors proved to make it nearly impossible to make clean, circular hole that weren’t too big. I like the idea, but unfortunately, mine came out unusable (likely, that’s mostly due to my own error somehow).

I do like the shoe clips and the bracelet though! I don’t think I own shoes that would work with these clips, but I definitely think they could be cute, metallic hair bows/barrettes. Also, this bracelet is just my style – the tutorial just shows a single strand, but I liked the idea of having a second (or even a third) strand.

Verdict: All in all, I’m really happy with the November For the Makers box! I feel like there was a good range in levels of involvement/challenge for each project, and I will actually get use out of almost everything in this box. I’m also a fan of the style of everything for the winter/holiday time (I love metallic everything this time of year!).

What do you think about the November For the Makers box?

Haley, I think you did a great job making the crafts.

It’s amazing to think that they started with 35 customers and now they are celebrating their 3rd anniversary.
