This is the note included, designed to be encouraging and uplifting.

Blended Mommas Subscription Box Review - November 2014 Info

On the opposite side of the note, there’s an information sheet detailing all the items in the box.

Blended Mommas Subscription Box Review - November 2014 Good Soap

Ten Thousand Villages Ringing Hoops Earrings – value: $6

Alaffia Good Soap in Coconut – value: $4.49

It looks like both of these items may have varied slightly between boxes: the info card lists either earrings or bangles from Ten Thousand Villages, and the soap in either coconut or mint scent. I’m glad I got the variations I did because I love them both. This soap smells amazing! I also like that these items come from fair trade, charitable companies.

One thing I do want to point out is that it looks like the earrings actually have a value of $24, but were marked down to $6 on their site at some point. When I choose values to list, I generally go with the price for which you can purchase the item.

Blended Mommas Subscription Box Review - November 2014 Tazo

Emerald Breakfast On The Go in Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal Clusters 1.5 oz, value: $.54

Tazo Tea, in Zen and Calm Chamomile – 2 tea bags, value: $.35 total

Sensible Portions Sea Salt Garden Veggie Straws – 1 oz, value: $.66

I love Tazo tea, and I think it was a great idea to include in this box – to me, taking the time to sit and enjoy a cup of hot tea (especially in winter) is a nice, relaxing treat.

Both of these snacks are ones I enjoyed! The nut clusters tasted like brown sugar and maple, and the raisins added great texture.

(Neither the tea or the veggie straws were listed on the info card, so I’m assuming they’re bonus items.)

Blended Mommas Subscription Box Review - November 2014 bag

Target Foldable, Reusable Tote Bag – value: $7?

This is an item I was excited to see – what mom can have too many tote bags? This one is a really cute design, folds and snaps shut, and the material feels like it’s water proof (or at least water resistant). I can’t find this specific one online, so I kind of estimated from Target’s selection of reusable totes.

Blended Mommas Subscription Box Review - November 2014 Tote

Here’s what the tote looks like unfolded!

Verdict: I was really happy with the November Blended Mommas box! Encouraging women is something I have a heart for myself, so I think they have a great vision and mission, and I liked everything in the box. I liked the range of items, as well. As far as value goes, if you use the $6 value for the earrings the total value adds up to $19.04, but if you use the original value of the earrings it adds up to $37.04 – so the final, personal value kind of depends on you. Personally, I know that Ten Thousand Villages is a great cause and that the $24 value is much more in line with their general price point for jewelry, so I’m happy with the value!

What do you think about the Blended Mommas box? Are you going to use the coupon codes to try a box for yourself, or gift to someone (maybe for Christmas!)?

Count me among the thoroughly baffled at the point of this sub. And I AM a stepmom of 4. Nice idea but really, there’s no distinction to be made in the sub box arena. As in none at all. To me it looks grossly overpriced for what they sent. I call this one a fail speaking as a member of the target demographic. Pass.

Agree with all the earlier comments on the theme (or lack thereof). I’m a little suspicious of this one since the items seem a bit too common…not sure it’ll last too long.

...

Moms are moms. The concept for this box is kind of weird.

Other than the encouraging note I’m not really seeing how these items are specifically for stepmoms. Overall I think it’s a good box though that would be appropriate for any woman.

I had the same thought re: stepmoms. But then I tried to think of what items would be good specifically for stepmoms and I can’t come up with any. (Granted, I’ve never been married and my parents have been married for more than 40 years so I have never been or had a stepmom and maybe there is something I don’t know.)

Same here. I do know that there are mom sub boxes and maybe this box fills the gap in that market. The mom sub boxes usually have things that any woman can enjoy.

The theme of this box is…interesting. I don’t really see how this would be different from a regular “mom” themed box – or how it’s different from a generic women’s box. The items are a bit random – not sure on the true theme or direction of it. I guess the note is directed towards step-moms but I didn’t find it particually inspiring (I am not yet a step-mom, but heading towards that title).

This is a sweet concept. I’m starting to be accurate when guessing sub box prices. I guessed $24.00 and the sub price is $26.00.
