Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Winter 2014 Box

Yuzen is one of the original eco subscription boxes. It’s a mix of spa, beauty and the occasional food item, and everything is made with natural ingredients. (It’s one of those boxes that smells amazing even before you open it!)

Yuzen kindly sent me this box for review purposes.

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Winter 2014 Info

Each box comes with a fold out card that details the items and brands featured. On each item they also let you know why they chose it for the box. (As far as card info goes in subscriptions boxes – I think this is one of the best)

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Winter 2014 Cocomels

Dark Chocolate Covered Cocomels – Value $2

Salus Shower Bombs in Eucalyptus and Lemongrass – Value $4.50 total

I originally was hoping these shower bombs were some other kind of delicious vegan chocolate, but it’s probably for the best that they aren’t since I pretty much inhaled these Dark Chocolate Cocomels! These showerbombs are wonderful though. I’m used to only menthol/eucalyptus showerbombs, so this lemongrass scent was a nice change. You just let the water hit it a little, then the rest of your shower is citrus scented!

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Winter 2014 Soap

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub – 1 oz Value $3.75

ZENTS Ultra Rich Shea Butter Soap in Mandarin – Value $12

This Mandarin soap might be my favorite scent in the box – it’s the perfect combination of sweet and citrus. (And I’ve used this cleaner before and love it so this travel size is a win for me!)

Yuzen Beauty Subscription Box Review – Winter 2014 Serum

Essence of Vali Sleep – .02 oz Value $2

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Eye Cream – 5 ml Value $13

Cowgirl Extreme C Serum 10 ml? (no size marked on bottle) Value $24

This eye cream is very light, absorbs quickly, and has a rose/floral scent. I can’t do any product that is heavily rose-scented – but this one works for me. The cowgirl serum is good size so I’m excited to use it up (I estimated on the size/value).

Verdict: This box has a value of approximately $61. I will use every single item in this box – so it’s a great value for me. If I could change anything I would have liked to see them include an item that felt fitting for winter/holiday, but really no complaints!

What do you think of the Winter 2014 Yuzen box?

  1. The spring box is up

  2. Yuzen is one of my very favorites. I love Yuzen, but this box fell a little flat for me. It seemed like we got fewer items than normal? The bag inside didn’t seem as full as usual. But no worries because Yuzen consistantly delivers.

  3. I didn’t receive a shipping notification. I think I did not update my card information when it expired. This looks like a great box. I need to look at my account before the box sells out.

  4. I am so sad… I look at this and just think… For $17.00 more…. I can have a Liz box! 🙂

  5. Thank you for sharing – this box looks amazing, and I’ll use every single item! The winter box is still available, so I just subscribed!

  6. Wow! I actually love all these items!! I love skin care and unlike the comment I do not have enough face serums, cleansers, moisturizers. All I have is the full size serum from boxycharm last month and 2-3 travel size moisturizers that have maybe a weeks use left so I will be out soon.

It looks like I need to switch up my subs some. Boxycharm although I love makeup is mostly makeup of course. Lol.. Ipsy and birchbox has not sent much either but i love those subs.

So I need to decide what subs I need to keep and get rid of or if I am able to just add another. All the vegan beauty subs seem to have great skin care and value. I am kind of weary to sign up with glossybox and samplesociety is inconsistent.

    I am loving goode box!!!!
The tatcha looks great and the full size Vitamin C serum is awesome for clearing complexion/dark spots and aging as well as acne. I am hooked on vitamin C serums amd crrams since discovering the serum in boxycharm last month. Now I never want to be without it. My complexion looks better and I am only 29.

Decisions on these subs are hard!!!

    • you need to sign up to MSA box.

  7. I would’ve liked this box, but Yuzen is one I had to cancel for financial reasons (although I’m good on serum and eye cream for a LOOOOONG while). Still, it’s good to see that they are continuing to provide quality items. Hopefully I’ll be able to sign up again someday.

  8. Based on your last review Liz I signed up for this box. This will be my second box and I can’t wait to try these products. I honestly have no idea how I went so long without knowing about this box but am very happy to have found them. Their packaging is phenom, and I love the fact I get a tracking number. This subscription is a winner for me! <3, <3, <3!! 🙂

    • So happy to hear it! I think Yuzen is consistently awesome 🙂

  9. Decisions. Hard to know about this box or the Goodebox, each has one of the bigger items that I can not use due to allergies, but they do look fun. Jurlique and Tacha I can’t use though 🙁 Might have to get one of these for the other items, also looking at petit vour.

  10. Yuzen never disappoints me! One of my favorite boxes. So excited i got my shipping notification. Side note, not a complaint, i have enough bar soap to survive the zombie apocalypse with and supply ten other families.
