Every box contains an informational card detailing the featured items. They also list details and the ingredients of each item on their website.
Lorenz Natural Paprika Chips – 3.5 oz, value: $2.59
Lorenz Monster Munch Cheese – 2.65 oz, value: $2.59
I love both of these snacks. The chips (which are gluten-free, by the way) taste like a mild BBQ flavor, and the Monster Munch is really crispy and light.
Lorenz Curly Peanut Classic – 2.12 oz, value: $2.99
Lorenz Saltletts Pretzels Sticks – 2.65 oz, value: $1.59
This Curly Peanut snack has the same crunchy and fluffy texture as, say, cheese puffs, but instead of cheese they actually taste like peanut butter. They’re not sweet at all. These were definitely a new discovery for me!
Lebinz Pick Up! Choco – 1 oz, value: $1.59
Manner Lemon Cream Filled Wafers – 2.54 oz, value: $1.14
Ritter Sport Milk Chocolate with Chopped Hazelnuts - .57 oz, value: $.89
This Pick Up! Cookie was my absolute favorite thing in the box. The card says it tastes like a s’more (minus the marshmallow), and it definitely has that vibe. It’s just two, delicious and crispy biscuit cookies sandwiching a creamy milk chocolate bar. I could eat these forever and never get sick of them!
I’m not a huge fan of lemon, so these wafers will be passed along!
Haribo Gold Bears – 2 oz, value: $.63
Dr. Quendt’s Dinkelchen – .35 oz, value: $.32
Schluckwerder Marzipan Covered with Chocolate – 1.76 oz, value: $3
I had no idea Haribo was a German company! From the info card, I learned that Hans Reigel founded Haribo and invented the first gummy bears in 1893. My husband is a huge fan of gummy treats, so these will go to him!
This Dinkelchen was really good – they’re chocolate covered spelt cookies, and the info card describes it as tasting similar to a chocolate-covered cereal. That’s a great description!
Hitschler Softi Sticks – ~$.20
Kinder Happy Hippo Hazelnut Biscuit - $.72
This Happy Hippo biscuit cookie is a hazelnut cream-filled wafer. They have a chocolate version, too!
Verdict: I’ve reviewed some international food-themed boxes, but Universal Yums sent me the first German one I’ve seen, and it’s also one of my favorites so far. From this box, I definitely encountered some classics I was expecting like chocolate, pretzels, and wafers, but I was also introduced to some amazing new things, and even learned something! The value adds up to just over $18 – I wish it would have at least broken even, but I’m not too bothered by that because of how much I personally enjoyed this box (frankly, they could have just thrown in extra Pick Up! Cookies and chocolates, etc. and I would have been happy with both the value and the extras!).
What do you think about Universal Yums? Have you tried any of these snacks before?
