Nicholas Black Box Subscription Box Review - October 2014 Card

Every box also includes an informational card, detailing the items featured that month (however, my September box didn’t contain one – that must have just been an accident).

Nicholas Black Box Subscription Box Review - October 2014 RSVP

Gatorade Prime Energy Chews in Fruit Punch – 1 oz, value: $1.50

RSVP for Men Soothe & Smoothe Shave Cream – 4 oz, value: $14

I can’t find these Gatorade Energy Chews for sale online anywhere but Amazon – that makes me wonder if they’re a discontinued item. Fortunately, their nature (non-perishable) makes it not really matter much. My husband isn’t a coffee drinker, so these will be nice for him to grab quickly in the morning!

I’m also thrilled with the size of this shaving cream. It’s definitely going to last my husband a while!

Nicholas Black Box Subscription Box Review - October 2014 Travel Lite

RSVP Skincare for Men Organic Hydrating Lip Balm – value: $6

Billy Jealousy White Knight Gentle Facial Cleanser – 2 oz, value: $5

La Fresh Travel Lite Lens and Screen Cleaning Wipes – 2 wipes, value: $1.66

Skincare is definitely something my husband doesn’t really practice much (he’s never had problem skin), so I’m glad to have this sample face cleanser for him to try out. This one is even a Men’s Health winner for best facial cleanser. However, the card lists this as “full size,” and then states the value as $20 for 8 oz. This bottle is really only 2 oz, so it’s only valued $5 (just to save any confusion from the information on the card).

Also, we adore our technology in my house – these lens and screen cleaning wipes are going to be used quickly! (Again, the card lists these wipes as “full size” and valued at $2.49, but online a 3-wipe-pack is full size and $2.49, so I adjusted the value for these as well).

Verdict: Almost everything in this month’s Nicholas Black Box is full-size, and we’ll use everything! I also feel that this month’s curation is a very practical, every-day set of items. I feel like there are so many grooming-only boxes or more formal kinds of boxes (like SprezzaBox or Birchbox Man), and it’s nice to see that this one has items that may be more widely useful.

What do you think about the October Nicholas Black Box?

Maybe the card isn’t “listing” them as full size, but just telling you what you can buy the full size for? Birchbox always has the full size products and prices on their cards.
