Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Box

Kawaii Box is a monthly subscription that sends you cute items from Japan and Korea. “Kawaii” means “cute” in Japanese!

This review is of the September Kawaii Box, but my September box didn’t reach me until October. I don’t think this is typical; their website says that shipping time is usually around 2 weeks, and they do email you a tracking number!

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Items

The Box: Kawaii Box

The Cost: $18.90/month with free shipping

The Products: 10-12 “kawaii” items from Japan and Korea

Ships to: Worldwide

Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your Wish List or Subscription List!

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Headband

Alpacasso Plush Pouch – value: $8.99?

Polka Dot Headband

This little alpaca pouch is absolutely ridiculous and adorable and I love it. It’s not even like me, but it’s just too cute (which, I suppose, is the ultimate point of this whole box anyway)! I couldn’t find this specific item online, but I did find something very close to it to estimate a value.

I can’t find any information on this headband, but it has a wire in the bow so you can control how it looks (and so it’ll stay in place), which I think is great.

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Tag

Pink and Purple Leather Luggage Tag

Purple Donut Bear Keychain

While and Pink Polka Dot Moustache Shoelaces

This luggage tag feels like a really nice quality, and the colors are really pretty – I’m looking forward to attaching this to my suitcase!

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 DIY POP

DIY-POP Bands and U-Shaped Loom

Rilakkuma Waffle Flavor Snack Sticks

If I can find some instructions online to print out, I know my little sister-in-law would love this rubber band bracelet kit! You make them with a U-shaped loom and colored rubber bands.

These snack sticks are interesting – they’re like biscuit sticks. I like the flavor in general, but the texture felt kind of gritty to me.

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Sweet

Hamu Hamu Town Stickers

Sweet Cat Notepad

These stickers are an assortment of bears, pizza, ice cream cones, donuts, etc. Also, this notepad’s papers are all pink and when I flipped it over, I saw this on the back! (below)

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Fish

This little note seems kind of random but it’s definitely super sweet.

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Popsicle

Fruit Nail Art Pieces

Popsicle Charm

I wish there were an info card included because I’m not 100% sure what these little tiny fruit pieces are. They’re thicker than nail art stickers, but definitely still thin enough that you could lay them on wet polish and put a top coat over them and have them stay.

Also, this keychain is really squishy and the sprinkles are a nice touch, but they keep falling off when I squeeze it!

Kawaii Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Cat

Cat Dust Plug

The last item in the box was this cat dust plug – you put it in the headphone jack of your phone/tablet/etc and it stays put and keeps dust from getting in (and adds a cute charm to your phone).

Verdict: I’ve reviewed a few Asian-themed boxes, but I think Kawaii Box is my favorite! Everything in it is most definitely kawaii (cute), and I know I can pass along whatever items I may not use myself. I wish there were an information card – hopefully with a little extra information I could do a cost breakdown, or at the very least be sure about what everything is! These items are nice because they’re just a bunch of cute little things that anyone can use or appreciate, and not only action figures or all food.

What do you think of this Kawaii Box? Have you tried this subscription before?

I ordered the February 2016 box for my wife for Valentines Day. It is now Feb 23 and the box is still not here. I’m disappointed in the shipping speed. I’ve ordered things from Asia before and received it in a few days, not a few weeks. It took over 2 weeks for it to get to the US.

I’ve been subscribed to this box for 3 months. I am 42 years old and I admit I totally love this box. I’m a huge Hello Kitty collector so I’m always looking for any opportunities to find something I don’t have, not to mention I love kawaii!!!

Chi! That dust plug is Chi of Chi’s Sweet Home. It’s a really sweet story about a formerly homeless kitten/cat.

I got his box back in August and loved it because it was adorable but I find that I don’t use the stuff in it so it’s mostly a waste for me. That alpacasso though, I collect them so I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED

I just got our first Kawaii box (October’s) about a week ago. We are subscribing so that we can put together birthday and Christmas presents for my 11 year old daughter’s friends. Everything in the box was so cute! We only received one food item for October as well for the person above who was asking. I will definitely be subscribing to this box for a while. I am very happy with it!

The fruit pieces are fimo. You should apply them with a dot of nail glue on a finished manicure. Don’t put a top coat over them!

OK, I totally just subscribed to this box (using your link, of course!) even though I am 40(ish). The inner child wanted it though and this price is SO MUCH MORE REASONABLE than Q-Box, which also charges for shipping — and sometimes the Q-Box stuff seems a little, um, shady, as in “from what knock-off vendor did you buy this?”

I’m probably going to end up giving much of this stuff to my 8-year-old niece, but she’ll love it too. 🙂

I have those things as well as like 10 different versions that I buy from a japanese site. I just use them with topcoat and it works fine. You definitely have to do a few coats and not work with your hands much for a few hours later!

I could definitely be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that purple donut keychain is a cell-phone charm.

Also, I’m a grown-ass adult woman and now I REALLY want this box even though I’d have no use for 90% of the stuff. It’s all just so….. kawaii! (Is that pronounced like Hawaii but with a K?)

OK, now I’m replying to myself, but have you gotten enough of this box to know how much candy/snacks they usually include? I have celiac and can’t eat any wheat or soy sauce products, and asian candies often include wheat for some reason. I tend to just skip them altogether because of the language barrier with the food labels, so if this box normally has a bigger mix of food stuff, I’d have to skip it. If anyone knows, could you let me know? Thanks!

I’ve been subscribed for three months. Each time I’ve received 1-2 one-serving snack items, like biscuits with chocolate dipping sauce and gummis.

The little sliced fruits are for your nails. They are very popular to use 3D nail art, which is why they are thicker than stickers. However, they are normally used in acrylic nails so I am not sure how they would do with just polish and a top coat.

What did the little note say on the back of the notebook? I couldn’t find the picture! I must know! Lol

Rhianna – Oops! that must have been accidentally left out. Here it is!

It’s a little fish in a bowl that says “please always know that I love you more than anything else in the world.” =D
