Bestowed Subscription Box Review & Coupon - September 2014 Info

Each box comes with a sheet detailing the items included and some healthy tips from Heather.

Bestowed Subscription Box Review & Coupon - September 2014 Calm

Natural Calm Drink Mixes (5) – value $4

Supereats Kale + Chia Chips in Chili Lime – Value $1.50

These kale chips were pretty good! And I was surprised to see the first ingredient is actually kale!

Bestowed Subscription Box Review & Coupon - September 2014 Butter

Balance Bare Energy Bar in Sea Salt Caramel Nut – Value $1.50

Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter – Value $1

I love Justin’s products (their dark chocolate peanut butter cups are the only way I can get my dairy-free Reese’s peanut butter cup fix every once in a while). This chocolate almond butter is delicious too – it’s not overly sweet, and a great way to take care of a chocolate craving without feeling like I’m being very unhealthy.

Bestowed Subscription Box Review & Coupon - September 2014 Water

Qure Water – Value $2

Bitsy’s Brainfood Smart Cookies in Orange Chocolate Beet – Value $1.50

I’m not sure about the pH+ level benefits of this water, but it is just a quality tasting water, so that works too! I couldn’t try these cookies since they are made with wheat, but I like that they add in lots of healthy ingredients to the mix.

Bestowed Subscription Box Review & Coupon - September 2014 Card

This box also came with a Hello Fresh coupon code.

Verdict: Based on my estimates, this box has a value of $11.50. Considering the monthly cost is $20 a box, I’m very disappointed in the value. (Normally Bestowed boxes aren’t this low in value though, so I’m hoping September is just an abnormality). In general I appreciate the curation of this box and I’ve discovered quite a few new healthy brands thanks to Bestowed, so I’m hoping October is a better month.

What did you think of the September Bestowed box?

  1. Bestowed is so disappointing and totally not worth the money. I got it as a gift as I used to be such a fun of KLUTCHclub. It really should be $10 a month like Love with Food. Love with Food boxes are 1/2 the price and way better.

  2. I was super disappointed in the value of this box, and the October box I just got – I’ve cancelled my subscription.

  3. I got this box once just to try it and I really liked it, but it’s no where near the value of the box. Which is really disappointing, if they lowered the price, I might get this box.

  4. I had signed up for this under the “rejoin” deal and got 6 months for about $68. I wasn’t terribly happy with this box, either. (At first I freaked out because I thought they were sending the same stuff as last month until I realized this was a review of September’s box.)

Anyway, have had those kale chips in like 3 different boxes now. They’re turning into the new Beanfield’s.

I also didn’t eat the cookies because FISH OIL. I didn’t sign up for Hello Fresh because all their vegetarian options seem to be loaded with mushrooms, which I simply can’t stand. I think the alkaline water stuff is bunk (I have a PhD in biochemistry) although just as water, it was OK.

Bestowed is big on the coupons. Usually this is not an issue because I can just pick the items up at Whole Foods. In August, they actually sent me a coupon for a product not available in my area, and when I complained, they sent me a replacement item, so that was nice. Their customer service is pretty good.

I won’t be continuing when my 6 months are over, though.

  5. Ph balanced water is so good for you! You really should look into it! Staying hydrated in general helps your skin, but for me I have really noticed a difference with alkaline water, being that I used to have a never ending cold and this really has helped my immune system

  6. Wow, disappointed too. I got my daughter the 6-month sub from Gilt and I’m embarrassed She loved the Urthbox, excited about each month’s delivery but this sucks. Are you listening, Bestowed? Hope so. .

  7. While i like the items yet again the value was very low. Its not worth what was paid. I miss klutchclub and these guys took it over…only to offer low value boxes. Oct is my last of 6 month. I wont be renewing.
