Nicholas Black Box Subscription Box Review Socks

KIND Oats & Honey with Toasted Coconut Bar – 1.2 oz, value: $.71

Purple Camo Socks from The Tie Bar – value: $8

I love kind bars. They’re naturally gluten-free and free from GMO’s. These socks aremy favorite thing in the box, though – I get to snag these for myself! (I got my value estimation from the single, green pair of camo socks since I couldn’t find the purple camo pair on its own.)

Verdict: I think the Nicholas Black Box is probably my favorite box for men that I’ve tried out. I love the variety; I feel like I see so many grooming-only boxes or more formal kinds of boxes (like SprezzaBox or Birchbox Man), and it’s nice to see that this one has items that may be more widely useful. The value comes out to $13.28, which is less than the cost of the box, so I’m not particularly happy with that value. If the sample sizes were bigger, I’m sure that would be a great step to increasing the overall value of the box.

What do you think of the Nicholas Black Box?

  1. My boyfriend loved his box. I think he really liked the idea of me thinking about him, since i usually order these boxes for myself. The variety of items that were in the box made this one a winner. The “value” might be off a little, but its worth it to me if he’s happy.

  2. I was really disappointed in the value of this box. I do not feel like I got my $16 worth of product. There was nothing special in this box. It was a let down to get a hideous pair of $8 socks as the showpiece item. I am giving NB one more month.

  3. I am definitely looking for a box to gift to my sons and husband this Christmas. I definitely would not be interested in a box where the value was less than the price paid. Call me crazy but I think the boxes need to be valued at least 25% more than the price paid to allow for the items that are just not appropriate.

  4. My husband got this subscription as an anniversary gift. He loves trying new products and was okay with the socks but wished they were a different color. I agree that the value wasn’t there and I hope they step it up as time goes on.

  5. As someone who subscribed to Birchbox man for the last year. I can tell you that after looking over the contents of this box -the value of this sub- has often rivaled BB Man. BB Man started off strong and really fizzled. I may have to gift the Hubby with this.

  6. Love those socks!! My boyfriend would love them, too. Even so, I can’t justify subscribing when the value isn’t there. The company is definitely on the right track with the types of things & brands they included. This box would be worth buying if it included at least one full size grooming product in addition to the small samples.

  7. I think those purple camo socks are absolutely awesome! 🙂
