Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Info

This month the destination is Charleston, South Carolina. Each box comes with a “boarding ticket” detailing the items included.

Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Pillow Case

Vintage Affair Studio Pineapple Pillow Case – Value $25

This pillow case was designed by Hazel Lane just for subscribers!

Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Cutting Board

Charleston Engravers Tinis and Thyme Cutting Board – Value $15

This is another exclusive item made just for Hazel Lane subscribers. I love it so much for our bar – but it also would make a great gift. I’m torn!

Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Snack

Wild Flour Pastry Granola – Value $6

American Classic Tea Charleston Breakfast – Bonus

This granola didn’t come with ingredients, so I’m going to share it, but at least I get to enjoy the teal~

Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Bracelet

Sangria Bracelet – Value $10

This is a pretty simple bracelet, but I think the blue tassel keeps it interesting – it’s an elastic band bracelet so it fits perfectly. I think this is one of my favorite items in the box!

Hazel Lane Deluxe City Subscription Box Review – Sept 2014 Shells

Oyster Salt and Sugar Cellars – Value $12

Dodeline Gold Foil Card – Value $5

These salt and sugar cellars are gold painted oyster shells. It’s not a useful product for me, but I appreciate the creative design.

Verdict: The value of this box comes out to $73 – a little over the $69.99 a month cost. Based on my experience with this subscription, I think Hazel Lane is much more about the curation that getting a high value box. If you want to get a very unique assortment of items from different US cities each month, I think it’s a great box. Without a doubt, you can tell a lot of thought went into the box each month.

  1. Looks the bracelet are mala beads (buddhist prayer beads), which usually have a tassel. You count 108 times, each time with a mantra or prayer and the tassel marks that beginning. People also just use them for anxiety relief… and to wear because they are beautiful too!

  2. Oh, and the upcoming destinations for Fall are Nashville, Oakland and Hawaii.

  3. I was a bit disappointed with this box. I love granola and was looking forward to this one with all the nuts and berries but it was inedible…stale and just had a very off taste. It needed to be better packaged and have an ingredient list. And the “salt cellars”? Kind of a joke. Just discarded oyster shells painted gold. They look pretty in the box as decoration but basically useless otherwise. The other items are nice but overall this box is not on par with previous months. At least it made my decision to not continue my subscription an easy one.

    • You were so right about this box. It looked good in pictures but in real life it was very lackluster. Very disappointing.

    • Hi Meg,

We are so sorry you were disappointed with your box. We had the granola made fresh about 2 days before shipment to our members. If you ever feel anything is “off” please contact us directly as we monitor our emails 24/7 and always here to answer any questions or concerns. We really appreciate you trying out our box and are constantly trying to improve and listen to customer input.

      With Love,
      Ash & Sam

  4. Liz, I vote you keep the cutting board! It seems like you gift a lot of things in your boxes.

  5. This is an interesting box. I love the cutting board. Another box to add to my wishlist.

  6. I have this box coming to me soon. I love the cutting board and that bracelet! The pillow cover is really cute but I think I’m going to have to save it until next Spring/Summer – pineapples don’t mix with my fall decor.

I hope they do a wintery/mountainous city next like Tahoe, Vail or Vancouver.

    • All your ideas for cities next month sound amazing – I hope you’re right! 🙂

  7. I love that bracelet! It’s such a perfect fall design. I’m not sure about the tassel flopping around while I type, lol, but I’d wear that in a heartbeat! And now I want some granola….looks like cereal for dinner (again)!
