Candy Club Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Card

Every Candy Club Box comes with a cute informational card detailing that month’s featured candies.

Candy Club Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Gummies

Gimbal’s Sour Gourmet Jelly Beans

Butterfield’s Peach Buds – 3 oz, value: $2.70

Sour Power Wild Cherry Belts

These Peach Buds are my favorite snack in the box – the hard candy’s flavor is a combination of peach nectar and coconut. Butterfield’s tagline is “disappearing from candy jars since 1924” – cute!

I also love that these jelly beans are allergen-friendly: they contain no dairy, nuts, gelatin, soy, eggs, or gluten.

Candy Club Subscription Box Review - August 2014 Taffy

Haribo Gummi Techno Bears

Sweet’s Salt Water Taffy

This salt water taffy is actually whipped instead of pulled to make it extra soft and non-sticky. I have yet to try these, but I think these are cotton-candy flavored. There were tons of these, loose, filling the rest of the box up! This wasn’t even half of the taffies included.

The Verdict: I thought this Candy Club box was very well designed, packaged, and curated. The featured candies aren’t quite my preferred kinds of candies, but I know they’ll be much-appreciated by my family (even if they were my kinds, I don’t think I could eat 3 whole pounds of candy myself!). I couldn’t get a specific value for the box, since nothing but the Peach Buds have exact weights to them, but their website says that each box has about a $60 retail value.

What do you think of this month’s Candy Club box?

Anybody know how their shipping works? I subscribed today and paid. Will my first box be sent out immediately, or does it normally bill on the first of the month, and the bill I paid today is actually for February (next months) box? Can’t find anything on their website or FB page.

Christmas update… If you are thinking about this as a gift beware HUGE price increases. $24.99 +$6 shipping = $30 single month, no 3 month options, $22.99+$6 = $28 a month for 3 months, $19.99 +$6 = $25 per month for a year… Ouch…

FYI The prices have significantly gone up since your post only weeks ago…the year long subscription is now $17.99/mo. + $6.00 shipping and handling.

Not sure why they made this change, but it is unfortunate.

I LOVED my August box, which was my first box from Candy Club.
Everything was delicious, and I finished up the last jar of candy today. ( only a few pieces).

This is one of my favorite, most fun subs of all. If people think it’s too expensive, then look at the cheaper candy subs available. I’d much rather have what Candy Club has to offer! 🙂

I want to unsub to munchpak and get this box instead. My daughter would like this and she could share with the grandchildren. If I sub for a year..is all the money paid up front? Some make you pay..some dont.

PS I wanted to clarify that the pricing we are seeing is without shipping costs including, so the price we see will actually be $5 higher in the end. So a box that costs you $25 total would cost us $30 total. Your percentage saved is higher too.

My pricing is the same as Annas, I emailed the company to see if they will honor the pricing you see or to find out whats going on.

Jen, the prices listed in the review are without shipping costs (so sorry for the confusion!). Shipping is $5, so you do, in fact, get the annual subscription for $14.99 (etc), but it totals to $19.99 due to shipping costs. in my response to Anna, I included a photo of their Web page’s pricing for you if it helps. =]

I love candy especially gummies! I think that this box looks great, but I’m always hesitant to buy a candy sub because it would be too much for me to receive a big box of it every month. If it were once a quarter I’d do it. I try not to eat so much sugar anymore but every once in awhile I def do like to have some sweets :). Plus, my fiancé doesn’t like any kind of sweets aside from chocolate, so I’d end up eating all 3 pounds myself! Lol

Agree that less frequent shipments would be good. That would be an awful lot of candy for one person (and I don’t live anywhere near any of my family members). However, I don’t eat gummies because a lot of them have gelatin in them, which is what keeps me from signing up for a lot of sweets subs. (Marshmallows are also out, for the same reason — gelatin.) I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on something I can’t even consume. If someone came up with a good vegan or vegetarian candy sub, I’d be in trouble…

I eat meat, so I’m ok with it, but my brother is vegan so I understand what you mean. Have you ever checked out sugarfina? They have a great selection and a lot are gelatin free too: http://www.sugarfina.com/collections/gelatin-free?page=1.

Hi Liz!
Did the price for this box go up? I was thinking of signing up but when I checked their website it says $29.99 a box and only goes as low as $19.99 a box for the year subscription. Is there a special code to use to get the prices you have listed? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Anna! For the pricing, I went off their website. When I go to their page, this is what I see (attached photo). When I selected the 1-year subscription, they show $5 shipping – that’s where you’re getting the $19.99 from. So, the prices listed in the article are simply without shipping costs. =] Hope this helps!
