People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Brush Set

Must-Have Makeup Brush Set – Value $15?

People VIP uses a lot of non-branded Made In China items, so I’m guessing on the value of this makeup set.

People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Brush Set Open

It’s a cute set for travel, and I’m sure I’ll use it a lot!

People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Keys

The Giving Keys Necklace in Shine – Value $35

FabFitFun VIP featured a Giving Keys necklace in a previous box, and I like the concept a lot – you wear the necklace, and at some point you give it to someone else who needs the message on the key. This key is customized with the message “Shine,” just for People VIP subscribers.

People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Mascara

Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara – Value $20

I’ve sampled Elizabeth Mott before thanks to Ipsy, so I’m excited to try out this mascara!

People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Scarf

Wear-It-With-Everything Circle Scarf – Value $25?

This scarf is another non-branded item, but I don’t care – I love it! I know I’ll be wearing it all the time as soon as fall starts!

People VIP Subscription Box Review - Fall Fashion 2014 Gloves

Touch-Screen Gloves – Value $10?

These are non-branded as well. I know I’ll use them though, so it’s a good addition to the box for me. (I can never have enough gloves – I put a pair in every coat pocket, in the glove-compartment of my car, etc. – I never want to be without a pair in the winter!)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $100 – I’ll use everything in the box, so I’m very happy with the value! If I could change anything about this box though I wish they would use more branded items. It almost seems weird getting generic items from People – you would never see these items in their magazine or in Style Watch! (I want more of the brands celebrities love!)

  1. If you go to shop dot people dot com you can buy the scarf and makeup brushes, along with some of the items from prior boxes.

  2. I really liked the gloves. They actually work with my phone. Is there a website to buy more?

  3. I Love the giving key! Such a beautiful necklace and the story behind it is pretty cool too!

  4. this box is no better than a popsugar box, just more expesive.

  5. Well even with the box being worth $50-80 at 3 boxes (for instance) and who knows if the other boXes are better. I need to check it out. Then with the two magazine subscriptions that would come around at least $260+ Not a huge value but possibly getting your money’s worth if you like the items. I haven’t seen the other items and they may be valued hIgher. I like the cosmetic brush case. Guessing it’s worth $30 minimum from similar ones I’ve seen. I want the key necklace but by the time I signed up for FFF it was the summer box and I’m going through a rough time and would love to have that key necklace soooo bad! This is the first time hearing of this box and I love the idea if they would put more of celeb favorites so we can get a small dose of the glam life. Great review! 🙂

  6. There is no way the value is $100, just seems like a bunch of junk! Smh

    • Given that it’s almost all no brand Chinese crappola, it’s fair to say it’s worth around $45-maybe $50. And that’s being generous. Check out comparable items on Ali-Express since they specialize in importing brand-less foreign junk. Scarf = 5.50, gloves = 3.50, mascara =15, necklace = $15. That’s a grand total of $39! For that value price, I could get a box of decent products from PopSugar and at least not worry I bought knock off junk from a foreign importer. Incredibly disappointing People Magazine.

    • Same thing I was thinking. I definitely don’t see a $100 value. Honestly, there’s no way in this day and age I’d ever pay for magazine subscriptions; there are so many options online to get them for free, like e-rewards doing surveys, etc. Also, those touch screen gloves I literally was in target the other day and purchased some for $5! That makeup car….considering that it’s not branded, made in China, trust you can find those on eBay or even Alibaba for like $5. Mascara, Im always funny about receiving most brands since you can purchase them in most department stores…yeah, the value is definitely nowhere close to $100. The fact the actual cost is over $200, please! I’m surprised this is coming from such a popular brand! I might as well go take my $200+ and buy the Neiman Marcus Popsugar box.

  7. not so great, imho.

  8. Do you know how many PS boxes I could get for $200?

  9. What a ripoff! I’m sorry but junk brushed you can buy at the dollar store for $5, a heavy infinity scarf–in JULY, texting gloves available everywhere for under $5, the key necklace that made the sub box rounds starting 2 years ago and a mascara. Other than the mascara and maybe the key it’s pretty much all junk. I don’t know anyone who pays their magazine cover price, ever. I have a sub for under $15/year! So for $204, taking into account the 6 month gift sub and the legit values of 3 boxes per year (averaged out to $60/each), this is actually worth $83! Not even close to $204. Just. Wow.

  10. It’s not unusual to see snow in the fall where I live so I can see how the gloves and the scarf works for a fall box. It seems early for a fall box, but I don’t know anything about the sub such as when the summer box shipped. The key concept is a nice idea. I wonder why they are choosing to send non-branded items? It does seem contrary to the People brand of famous people and style. Still it’s a nice concept.

  11. I want the giving keys necklace so bad. I seen it in a sub before that I missed and now here again but I don’t have 200 lying around but i love that necklace! Ahhh!!!! I need to go buy one on the website but Of coarse they don’t have that one. This was one of the best boxes I ‘ve seen. I would absolutely use everything in this box!

  12. i think its strange that they sent you a scarf and gloves in july.

    • It IS strange.

      • I’ve bought touch screen gloves before and they usually run $3 a pair or so (nonbranded, made in China)

Nifty concept as I love to text but they don’t really work that well unfortuantely
