Nailette Nail Polish Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Polish

Mini Essie Polish in Under the Twilight – size: .16 fl oz, value: $2.75

Mini Orly Laquer in Cheeky – size: .18 fl oz, value: $3.10

I’m already a huge fan of Essie polishes and their formula, so I was definitely excited to see Essie in my box. This polish itself goes on really smoothly and very opaque. However, I think that this specific shade of purple is a little too dark for what I like to wear in summer, so I’ll save this one until Fall.

This Orly polish is perfect for summer. You can’t see it too well in the photo, but it’s a pretty, light pink with a fine, gold shimmer. I think this will be going on my nails next!

The Verdict:  I love that Nailette only sends you 3-free polish! I also love that you’re able to customize your own skin tone/style preferences to help them pick shades for you. Personally, I don’t even mind that they’re mini polishes – their website says that they’ll last from 8-12 applications and, considering how much polish I already own, that works great for me. I don’t think I have actually finished off a full-sized polish before it was time to toss it. As far as the pricing goes, I like the idea of getting two mini polishes for just about the price of one full-size one, but I didn’t see the actual value match up here: $9.99 for the box, and only $5.85 in product value. Maybe if they made the subscription include three mini polishes, I’d agree with the value more!

Do you currently subscribe to a nail polish subscription? What do you think about getting mini polishes?

Nailette

Hi Haley thanks for the review! We just wanted to clarify – the way we price our box is actually based on retail value + shipping: Essie mini cubes (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod6390669) are $17 for 4, which comes down to $4.25 each, and Orly minis (http://www.orlybeauty.com/nail-color/nail-color-by-collection/mani-minis.html) retail for $3.99 each. So the product value is $8.24 in this case, not $5.85.

I get 3 mini bottles in my nailette box for the same price because I was an original subscriber. Had I joined after it was lowered to 2, I probably wouldnt keep this box due to the price.

I was a member of nailette and would totally recommend them! I had to cancel for now for budget reasons but the woman who owns it seems to really want to make her customers happy and has great customer service! Also I like trying a mini polish I have so many it’s nice not to waste so much product!

I kind of like the idea of minis because it’s not realistic to assume that I’ll ever use up a full-sized bottle. However, there are so many nailpolish subscriptions to choose from, it’s kind of hard to decide! (I have two right now, anyway. Probably don’t need more. Though I will definitely consider this one if I cancel one of the others.)

I have no interest in mini polishes, which is why Julep was a poor fit for me. Call me crazy, but I like having full sized bottles of polishes on my shelf! Old polish can easily be revived with an inexpensive product available at Sally’s.

Julep only sends full sized polish bottles…

No they don’t. Julep bottles are .27 oz. All other full sized polishes run .5 oz. Julep is half sized, they make their bottles tall to make them appear bigger.
