Every month, Treatsie includes a card directing you to check out their website to find out more about the samples before you taste them. They also included some coupons for orders of this month’s samples.

Treatsie Subscription Review & Free Box Coupon! - April 2014 Brix

Brix Chocolates for Wine Pairing Mini Sampler – 4 “bites” pieces; value: $2.15

Hot Cakes Peanut Butter Bites – 2 oz; value: $5

These Peanut Butter Bites from Hot Cakes was my favorite item in the box this month. They’re just organic peanut butter cooked down into a crispy bite, then coated with semi-sweet chocolate. The best part is that the ingredients label is totally simple and readable. They almost seemed like a (healthier, organic) version of a Butterfinger/Reese’s Cup hybrid. I definitely plan on ordering more!

I was very intrigued by these chocolates made specifically for wine pairing by Brix. I especially loved that they included a little card detailing each flavor of chocolate and a step-by-step walkthrough for how to do a wine tasting with them! These chocolates are available in packages of these bite-sized pieces or in whole bars. Check out the photo below for a close-up on the bite-sized chocolates and information for each flavor:

(From left to right) The Brix chocolates included were Smooth Dark (for Pinot Noir, Champagne, and Reisling), Milk Chocolate (for Port, Rosé, or Burgundy), Extra Dark (for Cabernet and Bordeaux), and Medium Dark (for Merlot, Shiraz or Zinfandel).

Treatsie Subscription Review & Free Box Coupon! - April 2014 Cookies

Hot Cakes Bling Bling – 1 Bling Bling; value: $6

Grey Ghost Bakery Lemon Sugar Cookies – 8 oz (full-size package!); value: $12

I was so happy to see a full-sized bag of these Grey Ghost Bakery cookies! These are made with minimally-processed, non-GMO cane sugar, non-GMO flour. The little white speckles you see are pearlized sugar as a topping, which add a little extra texture and sweetness to the cookies.

This Bling Bling cake was the second item by Hot Cakes in this month’s box, and I have to say that I loved both items. They describe this cake as an “artisan version of Hostess’ ‘Ding Dongs.’” It has a dark chocolate buttercream center and is dipped in an organic chocolate coating. It was super moist and I noticed that the outer chocolate was much better and richer than the almost wax-y tasting chocolate on some Hostess products. Check out some photos of it unwrapped:

The Verdict: I was very impressed with this month’s Treatsie box! It’s extremely rare that I actually love everything in a food subscription box. The value was also really nice: it cost $19.95 including shipping, and the total value of this box was about $25. I know I found some new brands to love!

Did you love everything in your April Treatsie box, too, or not? What item was your favorite?

Bad news: Looks like FIRSTBOX44 is no longer valid.
Good news: There is a new code: FREEBOX22 for same deal!

I signed up for this one last week after seeing a post on the Bling Bling. Pretty bummed I won’t get to try a $6 Ding Dong! Be aware the site definitely advertises they are quality over quantity, so it’s more about citation and discovery of new confectioners and less about value.

I fell for the great deal of this box too! I live at the end of a bumpy dirt road. My mail man must hate me. x)

Unfortunately it clearly states that you have until the 14th of the month to order that month’s box. After that they say you will start with the next month.

Yup, for the cost of shipping, they’ve got me as a new subscriber, too. Everything looks mighty tasty. My list of subs is growing every single week.
