Taste Trunk Gourmet Subscription Box Review - Dec 2013 Extras

Each box comes with cards detailing the brands included, and the December boxes came with tiny stockings stuffed with candy!

Taste Trunk Gourmet Subscription Box Review - Dec 2013 Cookies

Chau Cho! Milk Chocolate Stick – Value $3

Leupoldt Chocolate Covered Gingerbread Cookies – Value $6

I could not find these german cookies for sale anywhere (I gave up after a few internet searches), so these are value guesses. I had help tasting some of these items since I avoid gluten and dairy, and the feedback on these cookies is that they are an acquired taste – I think they look amazing, but apparently had a weird licorice flavor!

Taste Trunk Gourmet Subscription Box Review - Dec 2013 Candies

Herbs de Poulet – Value $6

Organic Candies – Value $2

I used this herb seasoning mix the other night for chicken, and it came out great!

Taste Trunk Gourmet Subscription Box Review - Dec 2013 Marinade

Daddy Cook’s Savory Blends Spicy Cider Bourbon Glaze – Value $8

Dulcet Tangy & Peppery Moroccan Sauce – Value $8

I’m really excited to try this Dulcet sauce next – it’s gluten-free and vegan, plus it’s non-GMO!

Verdict: I paid $29 plus $6 shipping for this box and received approximately $33 worth of gourmet food. (I had to guess on the value of some of the items I couldn’t find prices for, and I didn’t factor in the stocking candy, so that may be off either way by a few dollars). I would like to see the value always be higher than what I paid, but it’s pretty close this month, so no big complaints from me. So far the herbs de Poulet seasoning has been great, and I’m excited to try the Dulcet sauce next.

I really like that so many of these brands are new to me each month! What did you think of the December 2013 Gourmet Taste Trunk?

  1. Does anyone have a phone number to cancel Taste Trunk?

  2. I purchased a one time gift box for Christmas. The items I relieved pesto had leaked on the candy and chocolate and gift cards. totally ruined gift.

Theybpromised a replacement and instead are checking me for another month. Even though my order clearly states a one time gift- no enrollment. Anyone else having this problem?

  3. Glad I’m not alone in not liking this one. I had to email them a few times and it still did not arrive until Dec.24th. I got the gourmet and the sweets. I have had it in the past but I think like others I may cancel. Any other good yummy boxes out there?

  4. Sorry if I just posted a non comment!

Was going to say that they sell Lebkuchen for a few dollars at Aldi and it is gross. I am from Germany and it’s a very traditional cookie/candy for holidays.. my family eats it non stop. yuck. Def an acquired taste.

  5. Marina- that blows! Most of my Taste Trunks were good and I have to admit I enjoyed trying new brands and items, however after I got a few repeats and a box that I felt wasn’t worth the $30 it cost I decided to cancel… If you have a HomeGoods/TJ Maxx/Marshalls by you, you can go and buy these sauces and herbs for either the same price or cheaper.

  6. I went to Germany recently and bought something similar. I was a bit annoyed that when I got home, Trader Joes had something similar, different flavor but almost the same.

  7. This December was my first order of taste trunk and the last one! I also had the gourmet trunk and it looked nothing like this! None of these items where in my trunk, and it didn’t have the holiday ribbon or stocking. After looking through previous Taste Trunk reviews I feel as though mine was comprised of whatever was left from previous months. Their website promised it would arrive by December 23 (I placed my order in the beginning of the month) and it arrive on December 24 when we were already out of town and couldn’t take it with us as a gift, as we originally hoped to use it. Furthermore, the company did not order the “buy one, get one free” deal I bought it under, even after I have contacted them about it. I’ve placed A LOT of subscription box orders during the past two months, and Taste Trunk has the WORST customer service. They also delete comments from their Facebook page without following resolving the complaint.

    • Me too. I ordered a one time gift and they are billing me for another month. Promised to I’ve me a new box to make up for the damaged one and nada! Anyone have a phone number? I keep getting emails not addressing any issues, just welcoming me.
      How very Stepford.
