Birchbox Man Review – January 2014

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Opening

Birchbox Man is a monthly men’s subscription box that focuses on grooming and lifestyle products. Some of their lifestyle items can get a little formal, so I always recommend this box for anyone who has to wear suits, etc. for work. (It’s a good box even if you never have to wear formal clothes, but you may end up with cuff links or a bow tie you won’t be using any time soon!)

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Contents

The Cost: $20 a month ($16.25 a month with annual subscription)

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included for that month. This month’s theme is Go Time – making achievable New Year’s fitness resolutions.

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Jump Rope

Men in Cities Jump Rope – Value $40

This immediately reminded me of gym class, but it is a lot nicer than the ropes we used in elementary school! I think my husband would have preferred one of the other lifestyle items this month (socks, boxers, gloves, or an iPhone case), but we’ll probably use this!

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Hand Cream

Game Day Pre-Shave Invigorating Scrub – 1 oz Value $11.50

Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer – .5 oz Value $2.50

At first I thought Birchbox had sent a shaving product when my husband’s profile indicates no shaving products, but this Game Day pre-shave is really just a facial scrub. And I guess a little goes a long way, because this one ounce sample is actually half the size of the full-size product!

Birchbox Man Review - January 2014 Chap Stuff

Reviver Dry Deodorant Wipes (1) – Value $3

Mayron’s Chapstuff – FULL SIZE! Value $14

I may end up stealing this Mayron’s Chapstuff stick, or buying myself one too. It’s made with all natural and organic ingredients and works great. Plus the deodorant-like applicator is great for applying to elbows, knees, any where you have dry skin!

And this dry deodorant wipe will be great to use on my clothes the next time I have to get rid of the bar smell on a coat or something that isn’t easy to wash!

Verdict: We paid $20 for this box and received a little over $70 worth of products! I’m almost always pleased with the new products Birchbox introduces us to, and I usually end up taking some of the unisex items, so this box was a win for me! (If we end up using the jump rope the value will be great for us too).

What did you get in your January Birchbox Man box?

  1. Wow, the box that I got for this month has literally none of the things you got. Feeling totally ripped off for what they gave me (have been a subscriber for 4 months and got nearly the exact same box as month 1!).

  2. I did a little january list as well…Only thing I got that was similar was the Reviver…But I have to say, being only my second month I really like what I’ve been getting for 20.00.
I got the Proraso shaving creme, an english laundry sample, the Ernest supply face wash, and some “Sports trunks” AKA Underwear

  3. Wow. We got a quite different box! We got Ernst supplied face wash, eshu pre-shave oil, game day shower gel, reviver, and a very nice $34.95 lunatik seismik iPhone 5 case (and we’re looking to upgrade our phones soon so yay!).

    • Nice! I was hoping we would get the iPhone case – it looks great!

  4. That is a great value, I wish they had a bigger box for the women.

    • Same! I would totally subscribe to a beauty + lifestyle Birchbox! 🙂
