Jouer Sparkle & Shine Gift Review

I decided that in addition to my subscription box reviews this holiday season I’ll also review a few related gift options. Since I can never resist a mystery box, I had to know what was inside these beautiful Jouer Sparkle & Shine Party Poppers! I bought these from Birchbox, and decided I’d open one to review and keep, and gift the rest!

Jouer Sparkle & Shine Gift Review

The Gift: Jouer Sparkle & Shine Holiday Party Favor

The Cost: $58 for a 4-pack

POSSIBLE DEAL:  I just saw that Gilt has what I believe is the same 4-pack on sale for $35, but the image and the description don’t match up, so I’m not sure if they are selling the Sparkle & Shine set or the Sparkle & Pop set. (This review is of the Sparkle & Shine set). I chatted with their customer care and they don’t know which set is actually for sale, but said it should be updated to be correct within 24 hours. (If you are new to Gilt and use my link, you’ll get $30 off $60 credit in your account, so you could get two of these 4-packs for $40).

The Products: Mini Moisturizing Lip Gloss: 2.5 ml. /0.08 fl. oz, Hair Tie: 4 in. long, Wish Necklace: 16 in. long, Bookmark: 5 in. long x 1.25 in. wide, Jewelry Piece: varies Party Horn: 3 inches long (unextended)

The first look at the items inside the Holiday Cracker I opened!

Wish Necklace – Value $5?

This is a sweet little necklace made with string and a gold key charm. It’s pretty short. Here is a picture of it on the dress form to better show length:

Jouer Mini Lip Gloss – 2.5 ml Value $10

Metallic Hair Tie – Value $2.50

I love their lipgloss minis! (I believe this item will vary box to box – you can get one of five different shades).

Earrings – Value $15?

This was the one item in the box that will vary a lot from box to box – it could be any jewelry item. I think these earrings are gorgeous and they also are really well-made, so I was thrilled with the surprise item!

Verdict: Based on my somewhat conservative estimates, I would say every party popper will have a value of at least $30. I think these are such sweet little gifts to use as stocking stuffers or any time you need a smaller gift. I’m really happy with the quality of this gift and can’t wait to share them with friends and family – I may need to buy more!

What do you think of the Jouer Sparkle & Shine Party Favor? Will you be buying this or any other mystery items for gifts this year?

  1. For anyone who is interested, I received the Gilt version yesterday. They are indeed the Sparkle and Pop (2012) crackers — not the Sparkle and Shine (2013) version that is shown above. One actually arrived broken so I was able to see the contents. That led to me gently opening all eight of the crackers (I ordered two sets) only to find that they all contained the same items….no variance at all. Each cracker contained a lipstick ring, champagne bubbles, paper fortune, lip enhancer and a blower.

    • I got mine yesterday too. Exactly the same scenario: 8 of those hideous lipstick rings! Gah!
I was SO upset that I called Gilt, then I called Jouer.
Jouer explained that the sparkle & pop from Gilt is their overstock from last year & they had no control over how they were put together. The gal I talked to (Whitney) was amazing, though, and offered to send out some ‘variety’ to me, to make up for the lack in my packages.
If you’re disappointed, you may try that avenue.
She explained that the sparkle & shine is their newer version. More expensive & better product.

      • I feel horrible about this! Did Gilt offer any type of compensation since they used the wrong misleading image for the product?

I’m glad to hear that Jouer was helpful though 🙂

        • The post for the product is no longer available on Gilt, so I can’t verify that it was the wrong image. But in My Account, the description of the items I bought is Sparkle & Pop.

  2. This is a cute idea for a brides maids

  3. I think the ones on Gilt are for the Sparkle and Pop version. I checked those out compared to the Jouer website and they fit their description and price. I think Gilt just accidentally used the Sparkle and Pop image. I just ordered the Sparkle and Shine version to use as prize gifts for my friend’s baby shower!

  4. I LOVE Gilt.com. Jump in at starting times and you can get phenomenal bargains. Just be sure to price check while items are in your cart before they expire – some are less expensive elsewhere. A lot of times i just go ahead and get the item because it is unusual.
Between Subscription Addiction and Gilt, i could go broke very quickly!

  5. Just ordered through your link. I thought these would be cute little gifts for my daughter (19) to give to her college girl-friends.

  6. Thanks!! Finally got it.

  7. Can you provide more info on how to get 2 packs for $40 through Gilt? Clicking the ‘my link’ just takes me to their generic homepage & I’d like to take advantage of the deal!

    • Yep – just search for jouer, it should show up on the first page!

    • Yep, did that. Still can’t figure out to get the $30 off-even linking there from here? What am I missing?

      • If you have $60 or more in your cart and create a new account, the discount should automatically appear in checkout. Hope that works – I just tried it and it worked for me when I made a new account.

        • Right now as my hair is not long enough for the hair thingie or to keep with me at all times if it was I’d use that hole at the top of the bookmark to tie the hair thingie!!
