I decided to sign up for this subscription through a Gilt City deal, and it now there’s a 50% off Rue La La deal on Blue Apron (UPDATE – OFFER IS OVER)- I definitely recommend trying it out!
The Box: Blue Apron
The Cost: $60 for 3 meals for 2 people a week ($30 with Rue La La deal)
The Products: Fresh ingredients and recipes needed to make 3 meals.
This box arrived with icepacks and insulated. The veggies were on the top and the meat was at the bottom!
Mexican-Style Chopped Salad with Chicken and Corn
Each meal comes with detailed recipe notes and pictures. (I’m definitely need the pictures as a guideline!)
This was probably my favorite meal in the box. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Plus it was naturally dairy and gluten free!
Shrimp Spaghettini with Chilis, Mint and Lemon
The one thing I would change about the way Blue Apron works is the way you select recipes. You can choose the Meat and Fish option or the Vegetarian option, but you can’t pick and choose from each. My husband and I don’t like seafood typically, so we’d love to swap in a vegetarian option for the 1 fish meal each week. Since that wasn’t possible, I decided to make this dinner for my mom – she loves shrimp and lemon!
So while I didn’t try this meal – I can tell you that my mom loved it!
Stuffed Peppers with Beef & Millet
I had never cooked millet before, but I was thrilled that this was another gluten free and dairy free recipe. (Well, I omitted the parmesan cheese for my plate).
This meal was delicious too! And in all the recipes I found that the serving sizes were very generous.
Verdict: It’s official – I’m getting addicted to meal delivery subscription services! I love that all the ingredients are fresh, the recipes are healthy, and since I avoid gluten and dairy in my diet, it’s great that I can pick weeks with recipes that will work for me! I love Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, and now I can’t wait to try Plated this week!
