Our Local Box Review – Monthly Subscription Boxes – July 2013
Our Local Box has become one of my favorite boxes to open each month – I never know what to expect! (I just know it will some of the best items from Kentucky!) If you already are a Kentucky fan, or want to see what you’re missing – I definitely recommend this box. It’s a perfect way to sample local artisan companies that you might not normally come across. Our Local Box kindly sent me this box to review.

I really love the packaging of Our Local Box. Each month there is a card on the inside of the box explaining everything in your box! This month:
From grilling to chilling, Our Local Box has something for everyone this month. July’s Subscription Box celebrates our independence with a summery smorgasbord of Kentucky-made products.
This soap is made with only organic and natural ingredients. Not surprisingly, it smells amazing!
Earth Goddess Candles Pear + White Tea Soy Candle – Value $5.50
Bear Claw Honey Butt Spice – Value $4
Pappy’s XXX White Lightenin’ BBQ Sauce – Value $7
My boyfriend and I were so excited to see these items in the box! (I think all the delicious rubs and sauces we’ve gotten from subscription boxes have gotten us seriously hooked on grilling). This Bear Claw spice is perfect for use as a rub or seasoning on chicken, ribs, fish, etc.
Shimmy Shimmy Dang! from The Ladybirds – Value $10
I listened to the title track of this album and really liked it – now I’m excited to hear the rest. Our Local Box describes the Ladybirds sound as a mix of “surf, rockabilly, doo wop, and dusty retro bubblegum pop.” That’s better than I could have put it!
Verdict: I’m always impressed with Our Local Box– the curation is great, and I think this box would make a great gift subscription for someone who grew up in Kentucky – or anyone who just loves discovering new local brands and companies! Do you subscribe to Our Local Box? What did you think of the July box?
