Last month’s Ashton Kutcher Fancy Box was my favorite from the subscription. The July box is good – but I hope Ashton goes back to the theme of quality over quantity soon!

Be Here Now – Value $15

I didn’t know what to think at first when I found this book in the box, so I was happy to see Ashton included a much lengthier than usual card explaining this selection:

This is one of the books I read preparing for my role as Steve Jobs. It was well documented that Be Here Now was a book that Steve read during his late teens, early twenties. Pay special attention during the movie – it gets a mention. While on the surface this book seems to be the musings of an LSD induced era in chase of spiritual meaning, I drew a couple insights from it for the character. First, it’s an interesting exploration of the search for something more in life. I think that Steve was a guy who was never satisfied with what was and always felt that more was possible and this book supported that notion.

The other thing that the book supported was a character theme of function and design being married. While these writings muse about being in the moment, the way they are written is in stylized script and often times are artistically wielded around the page giving an aesthetically pleasing quality. This was a protocol that would follow Steve wherever he went.

Verdict: We paid $39 plus shipping for this box, and I’ll use everything (except probably the book), so I’m happy with the value and items in the July box. What did you think of the Ashton Kutcher Fancy Box this month?

  1. Dying over ‘Be Here Now’- read that as a avid acid using teenager and still have it! “Blew my mind” at 15…
It really is a good read, even when you aren’t on hallucinogenics!

  2. I’ve seen the Quirky stuff at Target too! I bought some of it for Xmas presents in 2012 so they have been carrying it for awhile now. Look for a bigger display on an endcap in the household item section. (I always see it near the accessories, frames, mirrors, lamps, etc.)

  3. I noticed that Quirky stuff is now available at Target. Most of them are in the One Spot section in the front of store and are priced $2-3.

  4. NO! I’m from Wisconsin, so that bears shirt will be a death trap. Returning that item for sure! lol. I think this is my least favorite AK box to date. He usually has one great item of quality, which is why I love his subscription. This one seemed to have missed the mark. Oh well! Since Fancy allows returns now, I’m okay with it.

    • Also, did anyone else get incorrect sizes? I’ve always received mediums in shirts, but got a large this time. The socks are also 10-13, but I am an 8. First time this has happened to me.

      • I got a large as well. Guess they ran out of mediums.
