GLOSSYBOX Review June 2013 & Promo Code

For the June 2013 box, GlossyBox teamed up with Dallas Shaw to create the American Beauty Box.  Dallas Shaw picked out some of her favorite beauty products to share with GlossyBox subscribers. I’m very happy with the items she selected for this box and the variety – a perfect mix of makeup, hair, and fragrance products!

Dallas Shaw also did the illustrations for the packaging. GlossyBox already has some of the most beautiful packaging for their regular boxes, but this box was even more special!

Each box comes with an information card describing the brands and products selected for that month. GlossyBoxes usually have some variation. In this case, the SpaRitual nail polish colors will vary, and you also will receive one of a variety of Philip B. hair care products.

Oscar de la Renta Essentials Luxuries Fragrance Samples – Value $6 ?

I normally am not very happy with fragrance samples in subscription boxes, but I love that they included every sample from Oscar de la Renta’s new Essential Luxuries collection. I also love the packaging of this sample set. So far, I think my favorite scent is Mi Corazon.

SpaRitual Nail Polish in Days of Wine and Roses – FULL SIZE! Value $12

tarte Complexion Brightening Lipstick – FULL SIZE! Value $14.50

I love SpaRitual nail polishes! (I became a fan after receiving two adorable minis in my December Yuzen box). They are 4-free and vegan, and the color goes on really well too!

I’m always intrigued by lipsticks/lip balms that combine colors like this. Normally I’m not much of a lipstick wearer, but I’ll have to try this one!

c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist –  2 oz Value $4

Philip B Lovin’ Leave-in Conditioner – 2 oz Value $8

I’m torn on how I feel about this c. Booth dry oil mist. I love the application and how it doesn’t leave skin greasy at all, and I’m also a big fan of products that are free from parabens and sulfates! I’m just not sure if I love the scent though, and I wish they didn’t use artificial colors to make it orange!

This Philip B. leave-in conditioner will last a while, and it’s paraben and phthalate free!

Verdict: This box is definitely a win for me – I love when they include full-size makeup products in GlossyBoxes – I think those tend to be my favorite months! Plus every item in this box is either full size or has enough product for multiple uses, so I’m very happy with the value. What did you think of the June GlossyBox?

  1. Is there a promo code each month (gift for signing up for your first box)? I’m thinking of subscribing but wondering if there will be another free gift code next month if I wait…

    • Hi Erin,

Based on previous months, my guess is there will be another coupon code soon – but I’m not certain. I will definitely post when I find out about a new one!

  2. This is my second glossy box-finally arrived today. I don’t do well with fragrances. They generally make me headachy so those samples went straight to my daughter. I also don’t care for the fragrance of the oil. The pink of the lipstick doesn’t work with my coloring and I have an OPI nail polish almost the exact shade of red. For me this month is a bust. I liked the lip-duo from last month. I’ve got the 3mos subscription so I’ll see what next month brings and may try something different.

  3. I was really excited for this box before the Bondi incident and until I actually received it.
I was one of the people who were really looking forward to the Bondi nail polish so was disappointed to hear about that debacle and find out we were not going to receive it.
The Tarte lipstick for me isn’t that great. I thought the color wasn’t impressive. I gave it to my sister.
The shampoo I received from Philip B, while free of paraben and phthalate free, still contains sulfates and that mixed with it being clarifying is a no-no for my dry hair. I also gave this to my sister
The dry oil mist was something I really wanted to try before I looked at the ingredients and saw 8 irritating fragrance ingredients.
My nail polish is called Home Body and while I love the name is a really unpleasant looking shimmery kinda mauve and it’s not appealing to me at all but I still will try it to see if it look better on the nails.
The only thing I really love from the box is the perfumes.
This was a one time purchase box for me but hopefully they will have another box in the future I’m interested in getting, I still think Glossy is a good company this just wasn’t for me after receiving it.
