Pinky Otto Polka Dot Maxi Skirt – Value $195

When you are filling out your style profile, you can let them know what your “must have item” is. This one was easy for me: “Maxis!”  I love this absolutely love skirt: it’s semi sheer at the bottom – perfect for summer weather!

Ivy Leather Bootie – Value $168

I-ELLA The List Gift Bag Review - Women's Clothing Subscription Boxes

This is now the second time they’ve included a high-quality leather item in my box, I’m so amazed by this subscription box!

Verdict: The cost of this bag (the Soho bag) is $129 and this box had a retail value of over $400! Even if I count the sale price I found of the boots (and I’m not sure it’s the same color), the box is still well over $300 – and everything it totally my style. If you are looking for a personal stylist experience and you also want to get a great deal on the items, I definitely recommend The List by I-ELLA. This is by far one of my favorite boxes to open!

  1. Did you get the box this month? Of shoes?

  2. I just ordered my first box, I started with the starter box and can’t wait to see what’s in it!

  3. I love your bag. I think it is a nice value for those items. Ella is truly responsive and you can tell she cares about her bags.
I love the Maxi dresses , botties (did not receive unfortunatly) as well as the Cynthia Steffe dresses.
I have the St Bart’s bag and received a Cynthia Steffe Grapic Print dress in size 8. Adorable but it just does not fit my athletic curvy 5’7 body. Shame!
If anyone is interested please send me an email. I can sell or trade.

  4. I just received my march box I got a Cynthia steffe Maya maxidress the dress is not for me it is striped and rather shapeless I am a size 10 -12 and the maxidress is striped not very flattering. I also received bath salts the wipes and 2 lip balm . I found the value if this bag was around $215 but I saw quite a few starter bag reviews from bloggers that had a higher value than my soho. I am also in Canada so I paid $35 to have this shipped I ended up giving the dress to my mother in law the positive side this box was marked as gift so I did not have to pay duty. I do not usually spend this amount of money on a gift subscription and am hoping the boxes in the future are more like what I see the bloggers are receiving as I was a bit disappointed In this one.

    • Hey Cindy,

So sorry you didn’t like the maxi. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We thought the angle of the stripes would be flattering on you.

And, the S.W. Basics is a face exfoliator – not bath salts 🙂

Additionally, it looks like our intern made an error on marking your shipment as a gift (i.e. gift bag). We’ll definitely have to correct that moving forward.

      Thanks again for the feedback.

      Ella, founder

      • Thanks for the response I hoped it would be shipped as a gift but if that’s incorrect then that’s ok. Hoping next month is better suited i will update my style profile .

  5. I just received my March bag today….although I was informed it was going to be late. I received three very cool designer bracelets which I would love even more if I didn’t have freakishly small wrists….but I still am a fan. I also received the Herben Essentials towelettes (hit!) and an armour lipgloss (too bright for me), as well as a $30 gift cert for champagne which I haven’t looked into so I’m not sure about that. So without the gc, I think my value was around $125….but more importantly I liked my items ;). This is my second and also pleased last month.

    • Hey Amy,

So happy you loved your monthly pick-me-up!

      xo

      Ella

      • I did! I do love the bracelets! My wrists are so small but I love that even if they turn around, there is the cute bead on the other side. I would have liked the gloss if it wasn’t so bright….but I’ll either gift it or try to tone it down. I am now obsessed with lip stains if you are thinking about future items ;). Love the towelettes! Really enjoy the fact you are getting items that aren’t readily available and unique!

      • I really did! Love the bracelets even though my wrists are so small….even if they turn around, there is that cute bead on the other side. Thanks for including unique items! I am now obsessed with lip stains if you are looking for future bag ideas 😉

        • Yes! We are looking for future bag ideas. Let me know which lip stain brands you like.

          xo

  6. I just got my March Soho bag today – had to ask about it – I think maybe they forgot about me. 🙂

This was my first bag – and OMG you got shoes and a maxi dress!!! JEALOUS!

I got a beautiful Vanessa Mooney necklace and an adorable Stephanie Dress by Pinky Otto. The dress is ivory and reallllllllly sheer though, and I don’t think I’m fashionista enough to figure out how to wear it without the world being able to see everything under it. I also might have been too hard on myself while filling out my sizes on the profile because the M is too big (BUT YAY ME for losing some inches – WOO HOO! – I’m finally back down to a Size 2). I can get it altered if I can figure out how to wear it though, so no biggie. It is REALLY exquisite – the lace detailing is beautiful. When I put it on, I look like a much nicer person (laugh). Everyone’s so used to seeing me in suits and business attire at work.

I got a gazillion towelettes (15 LOL), the cool lip gloss, and the soap. Didn’t get the eye makeup remover, but that’s OK.

My bag was worth $256, so I’m not complaining. It was a ton of fun to get it. I am surprised to read that people got different things. I think it’s kind of cool that we’re not all getting cookie-cutter bags, although yeah, I can see how it could cause some envy problems. I should have given my style profile more thought – I had no idea they would customize the bags. Hats off to Ella for that – wooo, that must be a ton of hard work. ♥

  7. I’ve been pretty jealous of both your I-ella bags. I also got some version of the Siman Tu earrings last month. I wear earrings every day but these really aren’t for ‘every day wear’ which is ok (who couldn’t use some special occasion earrings?) but I was really disappointed to get clip-ons when the style profile specifically asked if I was pierced. I feel like there should be a second part to that question in the profile questionnaire- if you are pierced, would you wear clip-ons?
I’ve been very impressed with the customer service so far which is why I’m still positive toward I-ella but I am disappointed that I received my February bag in March and as of right now have no shipping information for my March bag so will clearly receive my March bag in April but I am hoping I’ll be more impressed with this bag and my next.

    • Hey Gillian,

We really love those Siman Tu earrings. They are definitely for special occasions.

Both Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry wore similar designs to the Oscars.

Also, I think clip-on are best given the weight of the earrings.

Really appreciate your kindness and patience and look forward to building a long fashionable relationship with you.

      I’ll check on that box!

      – Ella

  8. I am so jealous of your box! I was so looking forward to getting this box, I bought the $49 box to try it out first before upgrading, and when it arrived I was so disappointed. I got the towelettes, a trial size cream and lip balm. The big item was this ugly looking daisy pleated cream blouse from pinky Otto that is totally not my style. It was supposed ot be worth $115 but i will probably just throw it away… Now I am definitely thinking I will cancel rather than upgrade to the $149 box 🙁

    • Hey Sara,

I’m sooo sorry you didn’t like the top. We really loved it and the reviews so far have been great.

I’m wondering if it would help to see it styled.

You have my email address so just let me know what you’d like to do.

I know you like Maxi dresses, but we only made those available in the SoHo Bag.

Again, just send me a note and me and the girls will definitely work to get it right.

      Warmly,

      Ella, founder + ceo

  9. I am so thrilled they ship international!
Also I became totally addicted to your blog, love it! <3

    • Thanks so much!!

      Liz

  10. Hi Melissa,

I’m really sorry that you didn’t like your earrings in the last SoHo Bag. They are designed by Siman Tu who also designed pieces for Gossip Girls. We thought you would love them based on your style and the emerald color is very on trend.

I thought I was relatively prompt in responding to your emails.

Additionally, the feedback for The List has been overwhelmingly positive from our members and only recently have we started sending bags to bloggers.

We certainly welcome your feedback and look forward to building a long fashionably relationship with all of you.

    • Hi Ella – Thanks for the response. Yes, I’d seen all of the positive reviews which I think contributed to why I was disappointed by my box, but I’m just hoping I will be happier with this month’s surprise! If not, I may need to update my style profile 🙂

      • Hey Melissa, we love a good fashion challenge 🙂

  11. All the reviews of The List have me drooling to sign up. Unfortunately I’m being good and will wait a few months after I pay a few bills. I’m a little worried with what Kim said above though. If it’s true they are “padding” boxes sent to bloggers to get better reviews, that seems almost a fraud. Hopefully that isn’t the case.

    • Hi there,

      Past reviews from non-bloggers below.

Samples in the bag can vary based upon what we secure. That’s it.

      Past reviews..,

….I just got back from the PGA at Kiawah Island to find the lovely surprise of the gift bag. It was so wonderful and beyond all my expectations ! Thank you so much for the effort put into attaining the gifts and I look forward to next month. Diane, South Carolina

    • Hi Jill,

Additional reviews trickled in as I was typing.

      We love what we do…

“I’m very excited about my new booties! I wish this box came more than
once a month! I’m not sure I can wait a whole month for the next
      one!!!” Starter Bag Recipient

“Just wanted to say that I’ve really appreciated how personal your customer service has been so far”

  12. I subscribed (ordered the starter bag) and this will be my first month. I actually did receive a tracking number. my package was delivered today apparently, so I’ll get to see it when I’m home from work. Really hope we non-bloggers get comparable bags!

    • Let me know what you get!

      Liz

  13. I haven’t received a tracking number either. I had the same problem last month and I was extremely disappointed with my Soho bag. I received one “big ticket” item that didn’t suit me at all. This item was also only slightly above the price that I paid for the bag. My additional items were the hair oil that everyone got and two lip balms valued at 3 or 4 dollars each. I have looked at several online reviews and it seems to me like they are sendly vastly better value bags to the people who have review blogs. I am hoping that they redeem themselves with my next two bags. If not, I won’t be signing up for another three.

    • I was also very disappointed with my soho bag last month. I got the pureology hair oil and a bar of soap. My big ticket item was a pair of gaudy green clip on earrings (my ears are pierced so I don’t know why they sent me clip on!) supposedly worth $175. I will never wear them though so very little value to me. I would be stoked if I get the shoes and skirt seen here! I hope this month is much better!!

    • Hi Kim,

More than happy to discuss your bag. Just send me an email 🙂

Additionally, not every item can be heavily discounted and I believe your piece was from the designers Spring 2013 collection which is not discounted anywhere.

Again, please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns.

We really do love what we do and hope to continue sharing our passion with you.

      Warmly,

      Ella

      • Hi Ella,

I think I have to agree with Melissa. I, too, had read nothing but glowing reviews about how much everyone loved their items and about how great the return on the value was. In all of the reviews that I read, people received items worth $269, $318, $327, $245, and now up to $400 for the Soho bags and even $149 for the starter bag. That is why I was so shocked that my Soho bag was valued at $176. I honestly thought an item had been left out until I read the letter explaining the contents. I also considered that fact that I might have been too specific and detailed with my profile to the point that you were very limited in your choices for me.

It is true that the item is still full price at Saks and has not been discounted. I am considering it a fashion challenge and am actually glad to try something new and different that I otherwise would never have tried. I have been getting a little bored with my style lately and I think that The List can help with that. For that I am grateful and look forward to this month’s bag.

        • Thanks 🙂

          xo,

          Ella, founder + ceo

  14. Did you receive tracking this month? I haven’t received anything and am wondering when my package will arrive
