Sample Society by Beauty Bar – Beauty Subscription Box Review – January 2013

One of my favorite things about Sample Society is that the boxes almost always arrive the first week of each month – I hate waiting!

The Box: Sample Society by Beauty Bar
The Cost: $15 a month
The Products: Deluxe and full size beauty and skincare items plus a free subscription to Allure magazine

Snowberry Instant Deep Cleanser – 7 mL Value $7
Malin + Goetz Bergamot Body Wash – 1 oz Value $3.60
I’ve heard good things about Snowberry – but the price was too steep for me to take the risk before sampling first. Excited to try this one!

Clark’s Botanicals Moisture Mask – .5 oz Value $20
Nicole Richie Perfume – .05 oz Value $1

Pantene Expert Age Deft Advanced Thickening Treatment – 1.7 oz Value $8
Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Eye Pencil – FULL SIZE! Value $15
Verdict: This box was worth over $50 – I’m so happy with the value! I love that Sample Society usually includes high end quality brands. What did you get in your Sample Society box this month?

I got Box F. I think it was SS’s version of the ” Punishment Box” as I unsubscribed by mistake during my NY’s total overhaul of my subscriptions.
I don’t know if they lost my profile or ran out of products or what, but my box is more suitable for someone much younger. There were 5 different box configurations shipped out this month, which I think is very different from their usual or past method of product distribution.
Contents of Box F ( your box letter shows in the Dashboard) :
1)Strivectin facial Scrub- ( my skin is very dry- I do not use this type of exfoliant).
2) Delaney Eye Cream- Received the exact same thing in Dec’s box. Didn’t like it then, either.
3) Lollia Wish Shea Butter hand cream- Tube is the size of a luxury brand lipstick. And this was the best item in my box. Maybe 2 applications in the teeny but pretty tube.
4) Same Lord and Berry black eye pencil ( think everyone got a boring black eye pencil).
5) Nicole Ritchie perfume sample- ( think we all got this too. I throw perfume vials away).
6) Largest item in my box by far- The ” extra” Pantene Hair Thickener. My hair is so thick naturally that one use of a Twistband stretches the Twistband out so much that it can’t be reused.
Bottom line- I asked for and will receive a refund to my card for the price of this box, as only one product was new and right for me this winter- the teeny tube of hand cream.
For anyone else who accidentally has a glitch in their BB SS sub, you might want to call them and make sure they have your profile info stored. Turns out they did have mine, but something was totally OFF this month, as the Strivectin item is most likely the highest priced item.
Seems that the 20 year olds got the great skin moisturizers..
Beauty Bar really needs to look at skin type and age when filling boxes if they are going to continue with 5-6 different boxes like January’s were curated.
Ending on a positive note- They have really GREAT CS people on the phone, and they told me they would make certain I received products suited for my skin and hair type in the future.
I believe them!!

This really answered my drawback, thanks
I was very impressed with this month’s Sample Society box – it’s been my favorite one so far – I received around $78 worth of product and am discovering some new favorites!
I really felt like my box was just an ultimate kit for beauty – with the eyeliner pencil, the lipgloss, the hair care (pantene), the StriVectin Instant Retexturizing Scrub (face), and By Terry Clarte De Rose Firming Radiant-Lift Eye Serum, they really started this year with a bang
I got the exact same one as you did Ala. I loved mine too! I love the lip gloss and the strivectin Well, I loved everything!!
