2012discoveriespart1

To kick off 2013, I’m looking back on all the products I sampled through subscription boxes last year. Here’s the first round of products I loved so much I had to buy more!

Hemp Hearts

Organic Hemp Hearts ($12) – sampled through KLUTCHclub

I had never tried hemp before, but apparently it’s a super food and I’m glad KLUTCHclub educated me on it’s awesomeness. I’m now adding it to yogurt and smoothies everyday!

dirt scrub

Dirt Luxe Salt Scrub in Lemon Leaf ($45) – sampled through Birchbox

I love just about every body scrub I sampled in 2012, but this one was a game changer for me because it doesn’t just exfoliate – it moisturizes as well with essential oils. I love a product that does 2 things in 1 and smells amazing!

bodum bistro mugs

Bodum Double Walled Bistro Mugs ($30 for 2) – sampled through Pop Sugar Must Have

When I first reviewed these I was excited about the design and the fact that they were dishwasher safe. After using them for the past few weeks, I’ve grown to love them so much that I had to buy a whole set.

ahava

Ahava Purifying Mud Mask ($31) – sampled through Society Sample by Beauty Bar

This is the best product I’ve found for clearing my pores – I love it! Even better? You only have to wear it for 2 min!

the gluten free bar

The Gluten Free Bar ($28 for 12 bars) – sampled through Boxtera

I avoid gluten and dairy in my diet, and I’m always on the hunt for the next delicious gluten-free / dairy-free treat. I highly recommend this peanut butter chocolate bar – it’s a sort of dessert food you can feel good about eating!

I’ll be posting another favorite item list soon – in the meantime I’d love to hear what subscription boxproducts you discovered and loved in 2012.

  1. I didn’t see you do a post on the Pop Sugar Must Have Luxury Edition? Are you going to? I’m just wondering what you thought of it. I was so disappointed.

  2. My favorite products in all my sampler boxes- wow, hard to choose. I discovered a new Diptyque perfume which has become my fave from a Sample Society sample.. usually, those all go in the trash unsampled.

I discovered an AMAZING refreshing low calorie carbonated fruity flavored drink called Zenify. It’s really different because it tastes fresh, not sweet and there is no after-taste. One can was sent out in a KlutchClub box. At present, the product is only available in the SF bay area or mail order from the company.

I discovered Golden Tote through your review and am now totally hooked!!! I have purchased 4 and am in withdrawal until they re-open in late Feb.

Totally love the Neutrogena tinted undereye cream which came in a New Beauty Test Tube. I’ve never used drugstore brands as an adult. This is great stuff, better than the $65 Chantacelle product I was using.

Lastly, BIG Kudos to 3 companies which debuted their subscription boxes in 2012. Hammock Pack is so much fun and always has high quality large sized items. I love their themed boxes which are obviously curated with great style and care.
The other 2 are custom cosmetic colors to die for and are reasonably priced: Square Hue nail polish, and Starlook Cosmetics’ Starbox! These are my 2 favorite subscriptions for color products.

Lots of fun in boxes during 2012, and I’m really looking forward to 2013.

  3. Birchbox, Test Tube, Pop Sugar, Klutch Club, Crave box. Most thanks to you! Really enjoy getting new products/ boxes every month. The best product so far is Sedu – hair oil that I tried through Birchbox. Another highlight was the Vosges chocolates I got through Pop Sugar. I also was pleasantly surprised with all the items I got in the klutch club box. Thank you for all you do!
